I dedicated four years to training with Alpha Female Tactical and another four years at The Powder Room, learning from experienced instructors who pushed me to grow. Class by class, I developed the confidence and ability I once thought was out of reach. 🎯 Another Confidently Carry CCW class in the books! Three women, three different starting points, and a whole lot of confidence gained along the way. 💪🏼 One of our ladies was an alum from our last Cakes Mini Bakery who came back to continue building her skills — and brought her mother-in-law along! ❤️ Like many people who step into a firearms class, there were some nerves, apprehension and anxiety in the room at the beginning. And that’s okay. Part of training is learning how to work through those feelings while building knowledge, skills and confidence. Before we ever hit the range, we covered Florida state laws, firearm safety, situational awareness, rules governing the use of force and deadly force, violent encounters and the effects stress can have on the body, personal responsibility and so much more. Then we got into OPTIONS & GEAR — because concealed carry is definitely NOT one-size-fits-all! We introduced the ladies to a variety of options, including Hardcore Hair Sticks, Safe Civilian slash-proof scarves, Tactical Sharpie, LAG Tactical Velcro holsters, Cakes Concealed bags, Comfort Concealment belts with an IWB Moms Who Carry holster, Incline Tactical, Sticky Holsters and more. There are SO many options available, and finding what works safely for your body, your lifestyle and the way you dress is an important part of the concealed-carry journey. Then it was time to put the knowledge into action. 🔥 We worked through hands-on skills and live-fire training, building confidence step-by-step. And to finish the day? They were ALL IN for a little stress inoculation to see how added pressure can affect our ability to think and perform. And they did GREAT. 👏🏼 Watching nerves turn into smiles, confidence and that “I CAN do this” feeling is exactly why I love teaching. Knowledge. Skills. Options. Confidence. ☀️ It’s been a hot Florida summer, making it the perfect time for private lessons! Yesterday we trained at Bullets & Bones in DeFuniak Springs, and I’m so proud of this student’s progress. This was her third lesson, and she’s getting closer to confidently carrying every time she trains. With college just around the corner, she’s committed to continuing her firearms education—even after she moves out of state. This session focused on an outside-the-waistband holster, because I always train students with an OWB holster first. It allows us to build safe habits, proper mechanics, and confidence before progressing to an inside-the-waistband concealed carry setup. One of the things I love most about private lessons is that they’re tailored specifically to your goals. Whether you’re brand new to firearms, preparing to carry, or looking to refine your skills, every lesson is built around you. Some students come in with years of habits. Others come in with none at all. Today’s student recently moved from New York to Alabama and wanted training that would prepare her to apply for both her Florida Concealed Weapon License and her Alabama permit.
