3 of my fav pitches on my last trip #climbing #alpineclimbing #blaueishütte #alpsmountains by @connerisclimbing
Summer 2026 climbing trip with @johannes.rsch Such ab big differentes to climb with an belayer again. It was really a trip to remember, so many great moments. The weather was quite rainy but the walls dried pretty fast and it was neither to hot or cold. There fore the conditions where pretty much perfect, could’ve not wished for more. As always I’m beyond thankful to be able to do trips like this and looking forward to the next trip. The first day we climbed „Logig line“ an easy route to get to know eachothers multi pitch skills. The second day we climbed „Eisbär Tour“ a great route till the eight pitch, after that the route gets into easier terrain wich is not as fun. So we rappelled back down to finish the route. The third day was by far the best, at first we climbed „Käseflug Variante“ a route more or less at our alpine limit. In some pitches we could place some trad gear to, wich made it even better. After this we climbed „Ham-Ham“ a route which is longer with more compact rock. It was at our more or less alpine limit too, so it was very fun too. Also with some trad placements. This day we climbed 13 pitches in total. One of my best alpine climbing days. It really motivated us to get better to climb even harder routes in the future. Most evening we climbed singel pitch at the crag right at the hut. Very wet rappels A beautiful night sky… and as always a beautiful sunset. Some days the clouds rolled in quite early. A great opportunity to photograph the night sky without as much light pollution as at home. The photo is taken by @johannes.rsch on an 14pro, and edited by me. My phone (12 mini) is so bad in lowlight situations, that’s why I post his photo with my color grade. Nearly coverd by the clouds the leftovers of the „Blaueis Gletscher“ Some rope shenanigans. I needed to extend the tagline because our main rope reached the belay by 30cm. That’s why I needed to extend the tagline by 5m with a few slings and quick draws, to pull our rope down. This way we skipped 1 rappel, that’s some time made good for the route we’ve do later that day. Left: „Ham-Ham“ Right: „Logig line“ „Eisbär Tour“ an its rappels (orange) Maxing out the time spent on a by @connerisclimbing

Not as much of an alpine environment this time, because I wanted to climb some harder pitches. That worked out quite well. I onsighted all pitches, with a bit more peace of mind in terms of pro, because it was bolted pretty well, so I only placed very minimal trad protection along the route. Which comes in handy while learning to climb harder grades on long routes. My plan for the future is to go up one grade and then try to climb longer, more exposed, and less bolted routes. My dream would be to have 300 m of air without any big ledges under my ass, while doing hard moves. But that’s for later this year. Other than the climbing, it was as beautiful as always. The first night, I stayed on the porch of a lonely hunting hut, where I spent the evening. That’s pretty rare for me. Normally, I get to where I sleep at sunset and get up by sunrise. So it was very relaxing to just chill and take in the beautiful view. Before sunset, I deposited my climbing gear at the start of the route and got back down to sleep at the hut, where I had a water source. So I didn’t need to ration water as much as last time. Because I forgot some carabiners at a belay below, I topped out pretty late, so I got to descend into the sunset with beautiful scenery. Descending was pretty fun because the nature was so beautiful. In the distance, you could see the sun setting behind the other mountains, and there were no sounds besides the refreshing wind. Just so lonely and peaceful. I’m so thankful to experience this kind of feelings, which are hard to put into words. A big privilege to be there. 🙏 by @connerisclimbing
So this was my first solo multipitch climb in the Alps. It was a pretty new experience for me because I had to carry much more gear than usual. My pack weighed around 28–30 kg, which is the heaviest I’ve ever carried. On the first day, I only approached the route after arriving by train. I got there just in time to see a beautiful sunset. The next day, I climbed the route. It wasn’t really hard climbing, but it felt very new because of the exposure (which I loved) and the distance I climbed. The route was 260 m long, but because I was soloing, I had to climb everything twice and rappel the route once. The climbing itself was beautiful, although sadly three pitches were pretty chossy. After scrambling back down, I changed sleeping spots for the next night. Unfortunately, I ran really low on water during the first two days, so I spent a good portion of the evening searching for water. On the last day, I planned to take my first steps on steeper snow fields. But I got up too late, so the avalanche danger had already increased a bit. Right from the start, I felt like I had started too late, but I decided to try anyway. Halfway up, I heard a “cracking” sound in the snow to my left. Because I don’t have much experience with snow, I decided to turn back. I was a bit disappointed, but I don’t think I could properly assess the avalanche danger. This was an awesome trip. I climbed my first solo multipitch in the Alps, gained more experience in snow, and got to swim in a beautiful lake, what more could I ask for? by @connerisclimbing
I got inspired for this 86° slab by @brisbanecityboulders / @lucaswilliamsbmx But I couldn’t really do the last move. Hopefully I’m gonna come back and FA this and a few more new urban boulder in this park. #urbanclimbing #buildering #bouldering #climbing #urbanbouldering by @connerisclimbing

Pretty damn late, but I still wanted to post this recap because this year meant a lot to me in terms of climbing and hiking. It was the first year where I really got deep into climbing. Through it, I got to see so many beautiful places and made so many great memories, which I’m beyond thankful for. I’m pretty stoked on my climbing progress. I’ve learned a lot about rope work and rope soloing, and I’m hoping to use those skills this year in the Alps. I’m planning to climb some harder lead rope-solo multipitch routes there. by @connerisclimbing
