Working in the clothing industry, I’ve always wanted to come to China to visit factories - to see the manufacturing process up close, work on designs in person and experience the whole culture.

I never got the opportunity to come here while working in corporate, so fast forward many years, coming here as the owner of my own clothing company and partnering with my own factory in Ningbo feels like a dream come true and a full-circle moment. 🥹

I loved spending time with the production teams, sourcing new fabrics in the massive Zhejiang market, eating the most amazing food (the noodle bar was my favorite!), and going to the spa every night. I absolutely love China!

I’m beyond grateful and so excited for the future @thecasualfriend

GCF Remodel: Work in progress

This is the first restaurant project that we’ve worked on, and it’s been such a fun experience.

Ian, the owner, had a clear vision: transform the iconic wine wall into a dining nook with custom bench seating and relocate the wine display to the opposite side of the room to amplify the retail experience. We had to add a few walls, nothing too major, but enough to change how the space functions.

For the custom bench design, we wanted clean, artsy lines, using beautiful natural oak paired with fiery red cushions. We collaborated with the best in town, @dannysrestaurantupholstery A family-owned business, they were so lovely and accommodating throughout the whole process.

For the tables, after searching everywhere and not finding the perfect fit, we decided to custom design them ourselves. We wanted something chic to elevate the space, so went with Calacatta Viola stone, paired with silver steel legs and natural oak trimming to tie it all together. I love them so much!

We just purchased chairs and stools, but we still have lighting, art, and the bathroom renovations to tackle. So much left to do, but seeing the vision come together has been incredibly exciting and special!

Update on Green St.
I bought this property two blocks from home so I could walk to the job site instead of driving across the city. I also intentionally chose a much harder flip, converting a duplex into a single-family home in a very conservative city that requires full engineering, architectural plans, and permitting. Thought it would be a great learning experience 🤷🏻‍♀️

The work isn’t the problem, it’s the waiting that’s driving me crazy!!! Waiting on engineers, architects, and a very slow city for approvals. Not my favorite thing, since I like to move very fast!
Two months in and we are still waiting but in the meantime, we’ve completed all the rough work: new foundation, full demo (literally nothing could be saved sadly), electrical, plumbing, framing, ordered all new windows and doors. I’m now sourcing kitchens, baths, stone (all the fun stuff) and trying to figure out how to bring charm back to the house, since we gutted the whole thing.

In the back, we’ve leveled the yard, built a retaining wall, planted hedges, and started light landscaping.

Powder Room Design Process

This small powder room was tricky to design, a rectangle with odd proportions and a window right above the sink.
I originally wanted to close off the window for a proper mirror, but structural issues made that difficult. Instead, it became the perfect opportunity to add stained glass, something I’d been wanting to add somewhere in the house. I partnered with a local artisan and hand picked the color palette and glass textures. It was such a cool process, and I’m obsessed with how it turned out. Every time I walk in, it makes me really happy…I think it’s the colors.
For the sink, I chose an antique Turkish stone basin to tie into the cathedral moment.
The eye shaped tiles were the wildcard. I’d bought them on a trip to Mexico and already installed them; they felt pretty mismatched at one point, but I didn’t want the hassle of removing them, so I kept them.
Finishing with chocolate Roman clay walls, a vintage glass pendant and unlacquered brass faucet pulled it all together.
It took longer than expected, surprisingly, but now it’s done and one of my favorite rooms in the house.

Harvard Before & After- Part 1

After 4 months of lovely chaos, our Craftsman gem in Exposition Park is done!

From foundation to finishes, we restored every detail—original stair railing and fireplace, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, electrical, plumbing, wall paneling, tiles, lighting, fixtures, landscaping. We even salvaged the piano that was left behind, as you see on the first photo…What a wild ride!

Now, this historic beauty is ready for its next chapter. Excited to find the best match for it!
