We are the FIRST generation to not endure residential schools. Yet the pain, trauma, and loss from these institutions are wounds we all still carry.

This photo shows the residential school on our home reserve. The same grounds where our parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles were taken. We grew up playing here, not knowing there’s still children buried beneath our feet—unfound, unrecognized, but not forgotten.

These schools were designed to erase our culture, to “take the Indian out of us.” The legacy left behind is heavy: addiction, loss, and generational grief. Many of the friends we grew up with are gone, missing, or still struggling with the harm caused by these systems.

But we are still here, echoing the past, standing for now, and protecting what’s next. We turn to our spiritual teachings, our languages, and our ancestors’ strength. We honor their resilience by continuing to heal, to persevere, and to reclaim what was taken.

Just Two Rez Kids with Big Dreams.
Building a movement with bigger purpose.

We blend Indigenous roots, Japanese influence, and gym culture into clothing that carries meaning — every design tells a story of strength, resilience, and unity.

Our work goes beyond fashion. Every print, every stitch, is a step toward empowering connections, honoring heritage, and creating allies through culture.

This is XUSI. Built with purpose. Worn with pride.

On-reserve First Nations people face suicide rates 3 times higher than non-indigenous.

I grew up on a reserve where almost everyone knows someone they’ve lost. Indigenous youth die by suicide at rates up to 5–6 times higher than other Canadian youth. My childhood friends are either gone, missing, or battling addictions in the streets.

I remember being trapped in that same cycle. I didn’t care about my future. I blamed everyone and everything for the hand I was dealt. It wasn’t easy leaving the rez, changing habits, and building a new life But the gym, sports, and surrounding myself with the right people literally saved my life.

Today, I’m grateful every day that I’m still here chasing my dreams as an entrepreneur.
That’s why I’m so passionate about @xusi_clothing
We’re building more than a clothing brand. We’re helping pave a path for future rez kids to see what’s possible. Indigenous representation in fitness is still lacking, and we’re here to help change that.

September being recognized as a suicide prevention month I wanted to share a little bit of my story. The suicide spirit is intergenerational - a vicious cycle that needs to be broken. Especially on reserves and northern/isolated communities. I had to ask for help and be vulnerable. I still struggle with it but over the years I’ve built amazing relationships and a life that brings me purpose & fulfillment. I hope to keep inspiring Indigenous people or just anyone that wants to better themselves. RIP to these amazing young men (Isiah, Brady, and more). I got to see a very core part of their personalities and lives and will always cherish our childhood together. by @connor__campbell__
