A pre qual is the not the same as a pre approval.

Numbers do not mean the same thing when you don’t have the docs backing them up.
A pre approval is incredibly important when making offers, it lets the sellers know you’re serious and there is some depth to your file. The lender has reviewed documents, clarified income and pulled credit.
