Mescalito (A3/C3, 5.9+, 26 pitches, VI) on El Cap over 7 days 6 nights. A truly wild and indescribable experience on the wall. The climbing was incredible and always challenging, this route in particular pushed me to my mental and physical limits. So incredible to be up there with Jake and big thank you to all the homies who hooked it up with gear and logistics! Few words, lots of gratitude. On February 20th, Jake and I climbed “La presencia de mi padre” in Cochamo, Patagonia. (5.10c, 5400ft, 28 pitches, VI). This is the longest singular rock climb in South America and one of the best experiences of my life.

I have wanted to do this route since I learned how to trad climb and it was better then I could ever dream. We climbed rock, we climbed snow, we climbed waterfalls, bushwhacked and crossed swamps. A whirlwind of a week in Sin City! We promptly kicked our trip off by climbing Inti Watana into Resolution Arete (5.10c, 2500ish ft, Grade V). After cruising the route in really great time, about 150ft from the summit of Mt Wilson, we found ourselves in extremely dangerous and complex terrain. We used our remaining daylight trying to find a way to the summit. With hours of unsuccessful searching and sundown we made the tough decision to call for a rescue. It was a good reminder how shit can still go seriously wrong on something that’s totally in your wheelhouse. I’m very grateful for LVMPD for their fast action and professionalism. I believe in honesty and being upfront when things like this happen and truly believe we did the right thing. Despite the epic, we still got back on the horse for our remaining days.
