Gretel is coming out of the Great Salt Lake for possibly the last time. Water levels out West are in a bad way and this last non-winter sealed the deal for this year and perhaps the next few. The arid West. Utah's snowpack is the lowest on record. We saw Big Boy last year but we're unable to get very close to it. This time around we could almost walk right up to it. It's hard to truly comprehend how massive this locomotive is until you're right next to it. 17 feet tall, 133 feet long, weighing 1.2 million pounds and carrying 25,000 gallons of water with 68" diameter driving wheels. Designed to pull 3,600 ton trains and can reach speeds of up to 80 miles per hour. We celebrated Tugs 12th birthday over the weekend. This year has been another one full of adventures and lots of love. As Tuggy gets older we've had to slow things down and shorten distances on our walks/hikes. He's lost a lot of muscle in his back end. We have been doing physical therapy every other week and he's been doing great. Every day with him is a complete gift and we are living life to the fullest. I love this guy more than words can explain and I have been so blessed to have him by my side the last 12 years. Tuggy brings joy with him everywhere he goes.
