The Michigan Sport Business Conference is thrilled to announce our next panelist, Connor Schell! Connor Schell is the founder and CEO of Words + Pictures, a nonfiction and live entertainment company he launched in 2021.

Schell was the co creator and executive producer of ESPN’s Emmy, Oscar, and Peabody Award winning 30 for 30 documentary series, developing and producing more than 100 films. He served as executive producer of The Last Dance, ESPN’s documentary about Michael Jordan and the 1997–98 Chicago Bulls, which earned him a 2021 Emmy for Outstanding Nonfiction Series. In total, Schell has won 16 Emmy Awards.

His producing credits include some of the most celebrated documentaries, including O.J.: Made in America, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary, four Emmys, and a Peabody, and Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, which premiered at Sundance in 2024, secured the largest documentary deal in Sundance history, earned six Critics Choice Awards, and won Producers Guild and BAFTA Awards.

Since founding Words + Pictures, Schell has built a platform agnostic studio producing premium documentaries and live entertainment across the industry’s leading networks and streamers. Recent projects include HBO/Max’s Celtics City, ESPN and Disney+’s The Kingdom, Netflix’s Court of Gold and NASCAR: Full Speed, and Prime Video’s For the Win: NWSL. Through W+P’s live division, Full Day Production, he has also produced events including NFL Honors, The ESPYs, The MET GALA Livestream, and the Oscars Red Carpet Countdown. by @connorwschell
