My Amazing Mother

When I think of words to describe my Mom, I think: Selfless, Empathetic, Bubbly, & Charismatic. She was a Saver, a Nurturer, and an Includer.

She truly lit up every room she walked into. Her childlike spirit brought out joy in others - she always saw the good in things. A common theme Ive heard about my Mom is how special she made others feel. She radiated true and authentic care in every encounter she had.

She gave the kind of hugs where close was never close enough. “Pat Hugs” she called it, pulling you in as close as possible.

On March 26th, my mom, Annelise, passed away due to sudden cardiac death.

She was and will always be the most important person in my life. The bond we shared is impossible to put into words - but we meant the world to eachother.

As I grew older, she was less of a parent & more my bestfriend. She confided in me things no one else knew in this world, as I did to her.

We celebrated her 64th birthday together in San Diego on March 21st, sharing so much laughter and love.

I will forever miss our karaoke sessions in the car, my phone blowing up with notifications from you, your 4 minute voice messages, all of your nicknames, your blue eyes and the comfort your presence brought me.

I did not think this kind of pain existed, yet I am glad it is there. It hurts so bad because of how amazing of a mother and friend she was. It is proof of existence. It is a drive to make her proud. It is a drive to be a better man, to one day be a father, and to love my children as she loved me.

Here’s to our next visit.

I love you, as big as the sky.

What started as an outlet to escape turned into something I really enjoy. Pointing up to my mother - losing her pushed me to show up for myself in a better way.

Last 8 months or so
