“I came up with these four words during a time when I was trying to figure out what came next. Should I go to grad school? Start a business? Keep hustling as an independent contractor? It took a lot of journaling and processing the last decade of my career to help me understand that these were the values I wanted to prioritize as I moved through the world, no matter the path I chose.

Eventually, I realized those values could shape more than my own choices, and could inform how I worked with others, how teams collaborated, and the kinds of spaces I wanted to create. That realization became part of the foundation for Consciously Produced, and is now the pillars we look at to determine if working together might be the right fit.” - Founder & EP Ariane Michaud @arianelmichaud

What we make matters as much as how we make it 🛠️✨

At CP, we work with thoughtful creators, leaders, and organizations to produce podcasts, live events, and digital content from concept through completion. Grounded, intentional, people-centered. 🤝💡

Looking to bring your idea into reality? Let’s talk. 🔗 in bio.

This week on Dances with Robots, Fynn takes the mic 🎙️

In “Falling to Fly: Space Camp for Artists,” our Producer Fynn Kugel steps out from behind the scenes and takes us inside CRCI’s Space Camp.

Space Camp in March 2026 set out to make room for dancers in space. It became a lesson in trust, care, and the culture we’d want to bring with us.

Let us de-influence you, creative project edition 🧐

A few things we have learned from producing creative projects, podcasts, conferences, residencies, and other things that do not always fit neatly into a category.

Featuring pictures and events from The Conference for Research on Choreographic Interfaces (CRCI) @crciverse taken by Martin Núñez-Bonilla @mnbnyc

More money can create more possibilities, but knowing what you are making and why still matters more. In January 2025, we made a conference info video on a pretty small budget with our amazing videographer Martin Nunez-Bonilla @mnbnyc. We wanted it to feel like an old VHS tape. A little scrappy, a little weird, and very clear that we had fun making it. The physical and financial limitations actually helped us get there.

For Space Camp 2026, we prioritized spaces that were close to one another rather than chasing the most impressive venues around NYC. Some of our favorite moments ended up happening in these unexpected spaces.

We are big believers in taking your timeeee. For the live events we produce, that can mean an hour or even two for lunch, breaks, conversation, wandering around, or taking some time to journal/reflect. People need space to process what they are experiencing and actually connect with each other.

In 2025, we thought the CRCI artist residents would be going on a microgravity flight. Ultimately, they decided against it. But changing course opened up other activities and opportunities that ended up furthering the research in ways they could not have planned at the beginning.

CRCI has built a small but mighty community. We believe that twenty deeply engaged people can sometimes do more for a project than 20,000 followers scrolling past it. Scale is not always the measure of impact.

And that is a big part of what we are here for at Consciously Produced. Whether we are producing a live event or working behind the scenes on a podcast, we want the people making and experiencing the work to feel held and taken care of.

And the funny thing about all of those little in between moments when we’re not “working” is that they’re often the moments when creativity has room to come through and the best ideas pop into your head 🧐 An outdoor performance space surrounded by trees, with an audience seated in wooden rows facing the stage. What does it actually mean to work with a producer? And how do you know when it’s time to bring one into your project?

There’s no minimum project size or perfect stage to start. Sometimes you just have an idea and need help figuring out what comes next. Cream graphic reading: “MYTH VS. TRUTH. ‘My project isn’t big enough for a production company.’ Let’s unpack that.” The word “unpack” is highlighted in orange, with a hand drawn blue arrow below. by @consciouslyproduced

Just a little taste of what you might get yourself into by following Consciously Produced on socials 💭

We’re not here just to share the polished final podcast episode, documentary or event highlight reel - but don’t get us wrong! We love sharing this part of the work too! However, what you’ll mostly find here will live a little bit more behind the scenes: from showing you the bumps AND the wins in our production processes, candid thoughts on the state of art, technology and the workplace, and *plenty* of celebrating the incredible artists we’re proud to work with.

Above all, hopefully something you see here will inspire you to finally create that one dream project you’ve been putting on the back burner 🌟 Are you ready?

A bit of insight into why we believe getting together face to face versus an online thread or chat is BEYOND important when it comes to conversations like this.

What do you think? Should our next event be an in person gathering or should we stick to Zoom? by @consciouslyproduced

We were taught that space belongs to astronauts, engineers, and billionaires. But if space is part of all our futures, then who gets to shape it should belong to all of us. So what, if anything, can dancers do about it?
