TIPS FOR YOUNG BASE RUNNERS☝🏽 Not all of them… but a A LOT of young pitchers will tend to slow their delivery down on 3-0 counts to try and avoid walking the hitter. My suggestion is to do a little recon in the dugout with your teammates when you get a runner on base, time the pitcher out of his stretch from leg lift to when the catcher receives it🕰️ Use your iPhone or stopwatch and make sure you track a large enough sample size of his deliveries that you can evaluate (not just 1 delivery like 10-15 in all different counts lol). For the players that say “my coach will violate me if he doesn’t give me the steal sign and I run on my own and get thrown out…” Trust me unless your coach is a complete psychopath almost 99% of coaches will not get upset if you swipe a bag on your own and you reach safely, because it actually makes them look smart also😎 If he asks you afterwards “why did you run without the sign?” and you say “because I timed his leg lift to the plate 8 times in the dugout prior to me getting on base and calculated that with my speed and a good jump it was mathematically impossible for the catcher to throw me out…” He will guaranteed see you in a positive light and most likely commend you for being a student of the game🏆 This tip brought to you by @loyaltomysoil_org @consistent.network 📈 #baseball #base #running #tips #myguy by @consistent.network

TRY NOT TO FALL INTO THE TRAP AT A YOUNG AGE OF CHASING ONLY BALL EXIT VELOCITY☝🏽 Because the last thing I want to be labeled by evaluators is “one dimensional”and If I’m allowing my other tools and abilities to suffer while chasing after this one metric, what did I even accomplish🤷🏽‍♂️ Don’t get me wrong its great to hit baseballs really hard, but if I’m a normal size human I believe I’ll get way more opportunities to play if I can check every single box or be above average at every tool (“well rounded” instead of one dimensional). Every baseball player in history has gotten into a slump at some point for whatever reason☹️ What happens at that point for me? Can I play multiple positions above average and/or take runs away on defense? Can I impact the game on the basepaths🤔 Or do I just become a liability at that point because I can do none of those skills at a high level🤷🏽‍♂️ I’ve always respected the versatility of Tampa Bay Rays Utility Player and MY GUYY🤩 @richiemille 🗽 at 5’8”/185lbs its tough to compete and add value when playing against dudes that look like they were built in a laboratory but he found a way😎🏊🏽‍♂️💦⚾️ 🎥 @consistent.network 📈 #baseball #mlb #big #league #versatility by @consistent.network
