I am pleased to share my latest publication I co-authored with Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng, a medical doctor and U.N Special Rapporteur on the right to health and adjunct professor at Georgetown University and Sarah Bosha, also an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown. This article published by University of Oxford Human Rights Hub offers the most recent snapshot of the power and promise of strategic litigation in advancing sexual reproductive health and rights in Africa. When young girls and women start seeing you as a role model and mentor, keep at it.❤️

I first met Doreen during the Girls Take Over Initiative lunch at the Norwegian Embassy. Doreen chose me and a couple of other women Directors she is inspired by. Little did she know that, in choosing me, she was also giving me an opportunity to learn from her journey.

Since that day, I have quietly followed her journey, observed her growth, her determination, and the young woman she continues to become. I have wanted to say a few words about her for some time, but I felt it was important to first watch, listen, and appreciate her journey beyond that one encounter.

And now, I believe this is the opportune moment.

Dear Doreen, @douryn_ollomy congratulations on successfully completing the Girls Take Over programme!❤️

Watching you has reminded me that mentorship is not always about the wisdom we pass on, but also about the inspiration we receive from those who look up to us. Your courage, ambition, and willingness to embrace opportunities are beautiful reminders of why investing in girls and their leadership matters so deeply.

I hope you never underestimate your potential or the power of your voice. May this milestone be just the beginning of many more doors opening, boundaries being challenged, and dreams being realised.

And to those of us privileged enough to be called role models and mentors, may we never take that responsibility lightly. Sometimes, simply being who we are and showing up consistently gives another girl the courage to believe in who she can become.

Keep rising, Doreen. I am proud of you, and I look forward to seeing the remarkable things you will accomplish. ❤️ by @consolata_chikoti

Beyond Gender Commitments: What Will It Take to Build Truly Gender Tranformative and Inclusive Education Systems?

At #IQEC2026, Consolata Chikoti, Executive Director of Msichana Initiative, will moderate a panel discussion exploring what it takes to move beyond gender commitments and build education systems that are genuinely gender-transformative and inclusive.

Policies and commitments matter, but how do we turn them into meaningful change for girls and learners who continue to face barriers to quality education?

This is where the Beyond Aid conversation becomes essential. Sustainable education financing must go beyond mobilising resources to examine how funds are allocated, whose needs are prioritised and whether investments are dismantling the inequalities that prevent every learner from reaching their full potential.

Because owning our future means financing education systems that uphold equality, inclusion and every learner’s right to learn.

Hey Girl, look at you. ❤️ You have grown so much since last October; in strength, courage, wisdom, and grace. I know the journey hasn’t always been easy, but I am incredibly proud of the woman you continue to become. 🥂 Here’s to honoring how far you’ve come and trusting where you’re going. ❤️ by @consolata_chikoti

Honoured to be joining fellow CEOs and Directors at the Tanzania Health Summit 2026 for a roundtable discussion on "Private Sector, Investment, and Public–Private Partnerships for Health Sovereignty.”

At Msichana Initiative, we believe conversations on health sovereignty must meaningfully reflect the realities, rights and wellbeing of girls and young women. Our participation will bring this perspective to the table, highlighting the importance of gender-responsive investments and partnerships that ensure girls and young women are not left behind as Tanzania strengthens its health systems.

I look forward to bringing the perspective of girls and young women into this important conversation and contributing to discussions on building a stronger, more equitable and self-reliant health system in Tanzania.
