“I got it. I can do it. It’s easy.” This is the phrase I had my son repeat this morning in the car. A ball of nerves this morning before school, he was mentally preparing for a presentation he had to give. He was anxious, and it was showing. Speaking in front of others is exhilarating for some and terrifying for others. “I got it. I can do it. It’s easy.” It’s a mantra I sometimes say to myself when I know what I’m doing, but the nerves start to creep in. My son is pretty stoic most days, but today I could tell he was anxious. I had him practice in front of me. 
Gave him very minor notes. I wrote down the only two transition words he needed to jog his memory in specific moments. He had it down. I had him do it 3 more times. After the third time, his stance was taller, his breathing regulated. He’s got this. He already had it. He just needed to “hear” it. The minor guidance helped eliminate the extra and solve for the area where a “searching” pause was happening. Sometimes, in moments like this, I get to bring my work tool belt home. For leaders, we need a safe space to practice, be heard, and receive guidance that is in our best interest and works for our style. A space to practice and screw up, fumble, and get instant feedback — with the right person. Not therapy, not counseling, but constructive changes and feedback that get you to your goal quicker. Less spinning. More time to move on to the next challenge. Besides solving brand, strategy, and process challenges, I also work with leaders on their executive presence during our sessions — helping them transform how they show up for their employees and teams, understand what may be working and not working, and quickly get to the root of a challenge with solutions tailored to their leadership style. Whatever challenge is ahead, make sure you have at least one person in your corner who is looking out for you — someone who can give you guidance and feedback that not only lifts you up, but gives you the confidence to know you’ve got this. Noise doesn’t build companies. Clarity does. The past couple of months, I’ve been working alongside leaders. Observing. When I diagnose problems, my first move is to understand the environment, assess the symptoms, and get clear on what’s actually happening. What are leaders really doing? I spend a lot of time at the intersection of goals and purpose, priority and necessity, with business owners and executives. The experienced leaders don’t talk louder. They listen, observe, and make level-headed decisions. They don’t chase every bandwagon or react impulsively. They gather the right information, seek the right guidance, commit to a direction, and execute strategically, even when the noise gets louder. And it will. Because great leaders are captains. They see the storm coming and guide their team step by step. The team needs the map to understand the plan, not every twist and turn along the way. Behind the scenes, I’ve been doing exactly that, strategizing what’s next for my clients. —> What does the next era look like? —> Where are they headed? —> What do they need to do, and who do they need to be, to evolve their operating models and creative systems? —> How to thoughtfully implement new tech, AI, and processes without losing what already works. We are entering a new era. Things are changing quickly. But that doesn’t mean abandoning proven, profitable systems for untested shortcuts in the name of progress. Quieting the noise is a skill. It keeps teams grounded, aligned, and clear enough to make meaningful, high-impact changes. Especially in organizations with excitable, aggressive, or highly emotional teams, which realistically is every company at some level. For leaders, be intentional about your sounding board. Understand the motivations behind every recommendation. And when something is being pushed aggressively, pause and ask why.
