Strange day. Strange thoughts. Travel days tend to do that to me. I missed my first bus to Cleveland and ended up waiting two extra hours for the next one. Someone asked if I was in the military (never heard that one before!), and later I found myself eating "epic tacos" in a restaurant filled with sculptures resembling Alberto Giacometti's long, thin human figures. The funny part? They didn't know who Giacometti was. Now they do. ๐Ÿ˜… All of today made me think about something. Joe often talks about allowing himself to be vulnerable in front of an audienceโ€”much like comedians do. He talks about it so much as almost as if vulnerability is the very condition for learning/developing anything new. Is it really so? ๐Ÿค” Today I realized something: traveling is my vulnerability comfort zone. (If there is such a thing.) It's the one place where I willingly put myself in situations where I don't know what I'm doing. New cities, unfamiliar streets, different rhythms, getting lost, asking questions, making mistakes... and loving every minute of it! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ Nothing compares to arriving in a new city for the first time. Today, as Cleveland's steel bridges and downtown skyline came into view, I could literally feel my heart beating faster. That feeling of a new possibilities never gets old. Never. It almost as good as mornings! So now I'm wondering... If travel is where I choose vulnerability, what am I actually here to learn? Which skills am I meant to develop?
