Our CEO @pyramation opened FRC #26 with "Secure-by-Default Postgres for Agents." The idea: AI agents are becoming database users, so authorization has to live in the database, not the app.

Thanks to @frontiersyndicate, @frontierresearchclub and @k_j_floyd for a great night during SF Tech Week.

AI agents are becoming database users. 🤖🗄️

At Frontier Research Club #26 during a16z SF Tech Week, we dug into what that means for the data layer. Agent memory needs what every database already has: provenance, access control, and a way to know when a fact goes stale.

That's why we're building Constructive: secure-by-default Postgres for agents, with authorization enforced right at the database layer.

Thanks @frontierresearchclub and @frontiersyndicate for hosting the conversation.

A few shots from the panel at the SVB Experience Center earlier this month — From Vibe Coding to Agentic Engineering — alongside Sanjeev Dhanda (Google DeepMind) and Abhi Aiyer (Mastra), hosted by Kristopher Floyd and Frontier Syndicate with Silicon Valley Bank and Constructive. The whole conversation kept circling back to trust: when more code is AI-generated, the bottleneck isn't writing software, it's deciding what's safe to run.

Special thanks Acasia and Jeff Kafka for sponsoring and GPU compute! taken in San Francisco, California by @constructive_io

Code generation isn't the moat. Engineering is.

Last week, ~150 engineers, founders, and CTOs gathered at the SVB Experience Center for a panel on From Vibe Coding to Agentic Engineering, hosted by Frontier Syndicate with Silicon Valley Bank and Constructive.

41% of all code is now AI-generated. Over 90% of US devs use AI coding tools daily. The AI-native dev tools market crossed $4.7B in a year. So the question on the table was simple:

When anyone can generate software, what determines whether that software is actually worth running in production?

I had the chance to share the stage with two people working at very different layers of that problem:

— Sanjeev Dhanda, Sr. Staff Software Engineer at Google DeepMind, leading the shift toward agentic testing for Gemini. Co-author of the CI chapter in O'Reilly's *Software Engineering at Google.*

— Abhi Aiyer, Founder & CTO of Mastra, the leading open-source TypeScript agent framework, in production at Replit, PayPal, and Brex.

The conversation kept landing on one thing: trust.

Our framing: software construction is being commoditized. Engineering is becoming the discipline of trust — defining what "correct" means, encoding it in systems, and enforcing it at the layers where guarantees matter (data, policy, tests). You don't vibe code the vault. taken in San Francisco, California by @constructive_io

Constructive made the front page of TechDay today.

We just open sourced agentic-db — a Postgres-native memory layer for AI agents.
Most agent systems today rely on markdown files and prompt stuffing to “remember” things. It works… until it doesn’t. Context windows overflow, retrieval gets sloppy, and correctness breaks down.

agentic-db moves that problem into the database:
• persistent memory
• structured knowledge
• query-based retrieval
• all inside Postgres

This is a shift from probabilistic memory to deterministic systems.

Agents can generate code.
Engineers still have to make it correct, secure, and reliable.
That’s where we’re focused.
