Here we are, my friend, Paula, and I a few weeks ago out for a jaunt. We had some fun, had some lunch and checked out a bunch of artists and crafters at a festival. The amazing creativity that people are capable of is an amazing thing#taketimetorecharge#newyorkfestivals by @contegaugel

Three oil paintings of the same scene that I painted oner several years. They are different because I was different each time, yet they resemble each other. I named each one, “A Month in Provence”#landscapepainter#oldhollandoilpaints#newyorkpainter by @contegaugel

Here is something - it is the JUMBLE puzzle that was always found on the comics page of the daily newspaper. When I was growing up, my dad would do it in his head, then wait for me to solve it. I still remember the feeling of accomplishment I had when I figured it out. I am truly in the minority of Syracuse folks still getting this analog item delivered to my door each morning. i will really miss it when it’s gone#syracusepoststandard#brainteaser#childhoodmemories by @contegaugel

Just finished this oil painting yesterday. Whew, I just loved this wacky tree when I saw it. I think it was half dead but just like a lot of us, it would not give up! Tall, short, fat, thin. We are what we are, am I right. Still thinking of a good name for it#oldhollandoilpaints#goodenoughforvangoghgoodenoughformoi#pleinairpainter#newyorkartist by @contegaugel

It’s that time of year again. Channeling my Italian grandma, Restituta Poricino Conte, cooking the Roma tomatoes from my garden. They are truly organic, lovingly grown sans pesticides, the way hers were way back in the day. I still miss her but she left me with fond memories of being her canning helper#summerbounty#familytime#grandparentmemories by @contegaugel

People, do you love how fabulous this oil painting looks in this frame? It is called, “The Borie”. I painted it in plein air in Provence, France. It is off to the Fenimore Museum Show today in Cooperstown along with 19 other paintings. The show runs from 10-5 on Saturday, August 8, 2026 and I would love to see you there#painting adventures#oldhollandoilpaints#newyorkstatepainter#pleinairpainter by @contegaugel
