Painting with Ink and charcoal „ Prachtsaal 2025“. Size 100x80cm
I painted this while I was part of the art team in Prachtsaal in Berlin-Neukölln.

With some breathtaking music from Miles Davis in mind..
I felt caged into their „silent“ rules around this open office
maybe this was a trigger for that painting…

"YELLOW to RED"
A dramatic Performance for the Mahalla UNRUHE, not Art Week Berlin, 2026 by Karlo Walz.

As we did not - by intention - had any rehearsal - we get confronted with our own result - the ritual, the strenght of the situation, the loudness, the screaming, the movement - the first time I got blown away and overwhelmed myself, I have to admit.

I would like to thank all participants for this so beautiful result and very especially my main actor "Jo" for her outstanding performance. In addtion Sarah Hatem made such a deep mysterious Mahalla Noise and Sound landscape which brought more and more emotions up on the surface awakened the souls of the Mahalla from long time ago.
Our Custodians Laila and Dave protected us with calm strength and wittnessed the situation to keep us safe.

In the machine hall in the basement of the Mahalla, the former AEG turbine exhibition venue for the Electropolis in Berlin, Oberschöneweide, we created with loud and screamy noice like music which attempts to bring in the former industrial sound back a body paint dramatic metamorphosis performance.

The lightning of the session was in contrast as a contre jour with wrong color by intention to block any default visual expectations and get and make it clear to have a stage, a temple, an art space.

Our director of photography @chris_bellevue was so nice to not only made pictures but also allowed me to play around a bit with settings and post production and to use these for a posting - thank you very much. I put in a digital solarisation effect to dazzle insta and the audience here.

Jensus Krassnig @jensuskrassnig the Hermit.Berlin on his way and mission breaking free from the safe space of a gallery ans artist space @mahallaberlin into the world aka the urban metropole Berlin..the path of the hermit into the heart of the society..
What an amazing experience to witness expressions, impressions, message given and received during this day long journey till it ends from Oberschöneweide / Köpenick East Berlin to Bahnhof Zoo in West Berlin close to midnight.
This was the end of that day.

The amazing Jensus and Jo

When there is room and space for artistic development, we can breath and stay in our role, very naturaly, like as we belong to this MaHalla#UNRUHE EXHIBITION.
So after our performance project we celebrated and used our now build up energy, our body paint metamorphosis to go up from „Underworld“ to the main Hall
and let the things go their own way and use it ..
