Before you can appreciate the glass, you have to understand the ground.

I’ve been obsessing over the design of wine for decades, the decisions that happen long before anything reaches a glass. When Chandon invited me and a small group of friends to go deep into this world at their Napa estate, I took it seriously.

We went up in the early hours. Hot air balloon over Chandon Winery at the kind of hour when the light is still figuring itself out. There’s something special about seeing a place from above before you learn it at eye level.

Then we went down into it. Lunch was in the middle of the vineyard. Nowhere else it could have been. We learned about the earth, sustainable farming practices, the climate, the grape varietals, and how each imparts a different layer of personality to the wines.

We took a flight of the new Spritz flavors: hibiscus, cardamom, citrus, verbena — working with the pure essence of each ingredient. Understanding the material before making decisions about it. Same discipline as our own design process. This is poetry in motion.

Milano Segreta —
A city that whispers instead of speaks,
its marble breathing beneath a tailored dusk.

Original sin lingers in the aperitivo glass, bitter, orange, inevitable — as if desire was always part of the architecture.

We play chess in the piazza, not to win, but to delay the moment of knowing, that every move is a confession in disguise.

And then, artichokes. Spiked, unapologetic, in season.
You tell me to embrace them as you would anything worth keeping: carefully, hands open, expecting resistance.

Some things soften only with heat.

A beautiful way to start the year.

Grateful to have been invited to lead a creative leadership workshop with YoungArts @youngarts, a nonprofit partner of the National Endowment for the Arts, chaired by Sarah Arison @saraharison, during YoungArts Week in Miami.

From over 13,000 applicants nationwide, I worked with 12 extraordinary young designers across architecture, fashion, industrial, and product design, helping them shape their own Leadership Blueprint through a workshop called ‘Lead by Design,’ alongside inspiring sessions like Yvonne Lin’s @helloyvonnelin Cardboard Monsters workshop that brought play, making, and imagination into the week.

We closed with a shared playlist collaborative Spotify playlist; YoungArts 2026 Wrapped, each student adding their walk-out song.
