Master study of Sargent（with a few J. B. Greuze）
I used to hesitate to share my work, fearing it wasn't "perfect" enough. But through my journey of self-studying John Singer Sargent, I realized that art is less about perfection and more about the courage of each decision.

He is one of the Old Masters I admire the most. Every stroke is a high-stakes choice; one wrong move and the colors lose their vitality. I noticed something profound: his famous "simplification" isn't just a shortcut. As you move away from the face, the details dissolve—I believe he was recreating peripheral vision itself.

He captured the world as "Masses" of light and shadow, reconstructed in his mind before a single drop of paint touched the canvas. To paint like him is to train the body to place the right value, with the right pressure and speed, onto the exact spot.

I share this because I know many of us struggle with the "fear of being seen." But if we can see the world not as objects to be judged, but as a beautiful arrangement of relative values, perhaps we can find freedom. I am training my hands and my heart to see that beauty, and I hope this small discovery helps your own creative path🍃
