Sometimes the most unforgettable moments aren’t planned—they’re caught in a split second. 🐟✨

This photo was taken years ago on an iPhone 7 at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery. The camera wasn’t anything special, but the moment was. I caught a fish just as it broke the surface during feeding time.

Years later, I found myself coming back to this photo and editing it—not to change what happened, but to bring it closer to what I remember feeling that day. The excitement of the splashing water, the golden light, and the peace I always seem to find at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery.

It’s funny how a single photo can bring you right back to a moment you didn’t realize would stay with you. This edit isn’t about making the scene prettier—it’s about making it feel the way it lives in my memory.

I get asked all the time why I edit my photos, so here's my answer.

I don't edit to change reality—I edit to bring back what I remember seeing and feeling in that moment. Sometimes a camera can't quite capture the warmth of a sunset, the way the water sparkled, or the feeling of standing in complete silence surrounded by California's beauty. My edits help tell that story.

These before-and-after photos were taken in some of my favorite places across California—from Rollins Lake and Scotts Flat to Lake Natoma, Old Sacramento, and everywhere in between. Every stop has left me with a memory I never want to forget.
