Good morning, I am in the van on the way down to Birmingham for @creativecraftshowofficial (have goats)
I thought I’d better give you a goat update.

The orders have been slightly overwhelming, and that has been compounded by various issues.
Firstly the company we use to print, their stapling machine broke and we didn’t get the pinafore printing on Monday as expected, or even on Tuesday. It has just arrived but there are less staff hours in the post room from Wednesday onwards so it will take time to get everything out. The girls have been busy prepping what they can and everyone is trying to help.

I really anticipated that many of you would buy the pinafore pattern and do some upcycling, but the kits on the pinafore have outstripped supply so we’ve had to substitute in some gorgeous, more expensive fabric for many of the kits- so you may find variations when you receive them.

I also thought we had been clear enough in letting you know that whatever colour you buy you have the choice of ear and horn patterns, but many people bought make mes in both colours, so I spent a long day on Sunday contacting people and refunding the difference.

For now, until we have these orders out of the door, I’ve made the kits for both the goats and the pinafore out of stock, then we can clear the backlog and see what’s left.

The patterns are still available- looking forward to a few white goats, beardy goats, tongue out goats….. by @coolcrafting

October is Wool Month, so it's a great time to sing the praises of nature’s most versatile fibre. Honestly, where would we be without wool?

A few years ago, I read A Short History of the World According to Sheep, by the fantastic Sally Couthard, and I’ve been in awe of the humble sheep ever since. That clever coat has helped humans build societies, cross oceans, keep warm and make some rather wondrous everyday things.

Here at CoolCrafting, wool is close to our hearts. Luna Lapin and (nearly) all her friends are made from wool felt, and our little shop with its fantastic yarn room and rainbow of boiled wools sits just off Kendal’s historic Market Square, in a town whose fortunes were built on the wool trade. Wool really is our bread, or "Pannus mihi panis"

Ramsey, our handsome Herdwick, agrees!

Our yarn room is one of our favourite corners of CoolCrafting, full of lovely colours, textures and natural fibres.

We stock a wide range of yarns, and are gradually adding a curated selection of our favourites to the website, so you can enjoy a little piece of our yarn room wherever you are.

To celebrate the arrival of autumn, we’re also giving away free project postcards with selected yarns, perfect for keeping your hands busy and warm as the evenings draw in. by @coolcrafting

There’s not a day that goes by without us posting some of these wonderful watercolour books from @emilylexstudio - they have been bestsellers for 2 years now— and for good reason. Each one breaks painting down into simple, joyful projects, making it easy to find a moment of creativity every day. From farmyards to flowers, there’s something in the collection for everyone, and we must admit… we want them all! Perfect for artists of any age, they invite you to slow down, pick up a brush, and let colour brighten your day. by @coolcrafting

It’s a wild one here. We’ve had some new Merchant & Mills patterns in along with some of their classic, best known fabrics so Karen gave us the debrief. #coolcrafting #kendal #sewing by @coolcrafting

Ever year, you help us raise money for Jo's favourite charity, @greekanimalrescue , by selling a knitted pumpkin pattern.

This year, we are doing it all again. If knitting isn't your thing - there is a crochet pumpkin to match—the very talented Aly designs this one. Both are suitible for a confident begginer and you can use different types of yarn to achieve different size pumpkins! How gourdgeous! You can buy a copy of either in store or download a PDF via our website.

All profits (£3.00 of each sale) will go to the charity. by @coolcrafting

We’ve always had a soft spot for a good book at CoolCrafting. There’s something lovely about sitting down with a new book, turning the pages, and searching for the next spark of inspiration.

Our bookshelves are full of creative adventures, from stitching and gorgeous knits to beautiful papercrafts and wonderful watercolours, each as tempting as the next!

We thought we’d share a few favourites, though choosing which ones to start with is proving a little tricky!

What craft books do you treasure? The ones with dog-eared pages and projects you’ve made time and again, or ideas you’ve been saving for just the right moment. by @coolcrafting

Our poor little Bathsheba Bat has gotten quite lost, and she's desperately hoping to find a new family before the spookiest night of the year. Could that family be yours?

There's still time to gather your supplies for an evening practising the craft (stitching, not witching!). We are hosting a Spooky Halloween Luna Lapin Competition in our Facebook group, Luna Lapin's Little World - join to find out more!
