During the time Colin Kaepernick was being retaliated against by the NFL, I was having real-life experiences where I felt like I was being retaliated against on my own job. While Colin was taking a knee for Black lives and against police brutality, those exact instances were actively happening right here in my community, affecting my life and my family.
For more than two decades, I gave everything to corporate America—my time, my energy, my health, and pieces of my motherhood. I worked the long nights and mandatory overtime, believing sacrifice equaled stability. But inside that building, my joy was policed, my voice was silenced, and my very presence was treated as a threat.
I wrote Fuck That Job as a raw, unapologetic memoir about surviving and finally walking away from a system that was never built for me. It’s a book about healing, choosing myself, and teaching my children and every Black woman watching that survival is NOT the same as living.
I want to ask you: How have these situations affected you in your own life? Have you ever had to take a stand at work or in your community, or are you finding yourself staying comfortable in a system that doesn't serve you?

That was a passage from Chapter 5, “Unfuck My Power,” from my book Fuck That Job.
During the time Colin Kaepernick was being retaliated against by the NFL, I was having real-life experiences where I felt retaliated against on my own job. While Colin was taking a knee, those exact instances and situations he was protesting were actively happening right here in my community and affecting my family.
For over two decades, I gave everything to corporate America—my time, my health, and pieces of my motherhood. But inside that building, my joy was policed, my voice was silenced, and my presence was treated as a threat. I wrote this book to remember, to heal, and to say once and for all: Fuck That Job.
How have these situations affected you? Have you ever had to take a stand, or are you staying comfortable in a broken system? Where do you see yourself in this story?

Hate I missed Chris Brown and Usher. I’ve been too busy with training camp getting ready for this season. Honored to be the first woman to play in the NFL. It’s easy to get on the 49ers. by @cooljaayy

Nothing beats an understanding better than an understanding.”
— Bishop Dwight Williams 🕊️

I met Bishop Dwight Williams when I was appointed to the City of Stockton Civil Service Commission this January. In the short time I had the honor of serving under his leadership, I was learning so much from him.

Bishop Williams did so much for our community, and his work and commitment to service were truly inspirational. He was always professional, incredibly knowledgeable and smart, patient, and kind.

This feels so unreal, especially knowing I was just with him at the Chamber mixer.

My deepest condolences and prayers go out to his wife, family, and everyone who loved him.

He will truly be missed. Rest in power, Bishop. 🕊️ by @cooljaayy

Today required all of my strength to press through.

To make the meetings. Show up for the events. Take the calls. Talk to my buyers. Handle business when, truthfully, I wanted to shut everything down and just be still.

It took a whole lot of affirmations, pep talks, prayer, and reminding myself that I can do hard things, even on hard days.

I spent a lot of time today in the Book of Job, chapters 29 and 30. Sitting with the contrast between what was, what is, and what I still believe can be.

Facebook can make life look like everything is always great. The meetings. The closings. The books. The events. The smiles.

But life can hold gratitude and grief, progress and pressure, faith and frustration all at the same time.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…”
— Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

And today felt a little like both.

But I made it through today. And I didn’t make it through alone.

So THANK YOU to the people who call me, pray for me, encourage me, speak life into me, check on me, share my posts, refer someone to me, trust me with their real estate journey, purchase one of my books, read my words, or simply remind me to keep going.

Thank you. ❤️

And since we’re talking about support, there are a few very real ways you can support what I’m building:

🏡 Buying or selling real estate? Allow me to serve you, your family, or someone you know. Referrals are always appreciated.

📚 Support me as an author:
Nice to Meet Me: A Daily Journey Back to Self
Fuck That Job

Purchase a book. Share a post. Refer a buyer or seller. Leave a review. Tell somebody about my work.

Every act of support matters more than you probably realize.

Today was heavy.

But I showed up anyway. And sometimes, showing up IS the victory.

Thank you all for your continued support

🏀 Rules of the Game

Today, I want to talk about owning a home while on Section 8. Is it possible in San Joaquin County?

The answer is… yes.

Here’s today’s rule:

Just because you receive a Housing Choice Voucher doesn’t mean homeownership is out of reach. The Housing Authority of San Joaquin County offers a Homeownership Voucher Program for eligible voucher holders. Instead of your voucher helping pay rent, it may help with your monthly mortgage payment. (San Joaquin Housing Authority)

Now here’s the fine print. This program doesn’t provide the down payment, but you may be able to combine it with other down payment assistance programs if you qualify. (USAGov)

So before you count yourself out, learn the rules of the game.

I’m Jahari Williams, coaching your real estate dreams into reality. See you on the next Rules of the Game.#stocktonrealestate #listingagent #buyersagent #jahariwilliamsrealtor #dreamhome by @cooljaayy
