“I just can’t believe we have a daughter”

on Wednesday July 16th our home got fuller and our hearts got bigger as our precious baby GIRL, Ruth Kathleen McCullough came into the world after a beautiful & worship-filled labor and delivery! 7 pounds 3 oz of pure sweetness. we are so overwhelmed by the richness of Gods grace to us and the gift it is to shepherd this little heart!!!

as we thought of what we would name a daughter, if we had one someday, we always came back to Ruth Kathleen. the name Ruth is translated to mean compassionate friend, we pray that she would be compassionate to those that are both easy and hard to love because of the compassion Christ has lavishly poured out on us, and that she would come to find that friendship with Christ is the greatest treasure in life. we pray she believes that even in the midst of our sin and rebellion, that we serve a covenant keeping God! who even in the days of the judges when Israel was running after other gods and stuck in the cyclical nature of sin — that God was faithful even when they were faithless. God chose to use a Moabite woman to be apart of his grand rescue mission to restore the world back to a right relationship with Himself through our kinsman redeemer — the person of Jesus Christ! we pray that like Ruth, that she would fear the Lord and be zealous in her devotion to Him.

kathleen is my middle name, named after my grandma Kathleen Foster, a woman who built a beautiful legacy for our family and was known for the way she “worked hard, and played harder”the name kathleen means pure — we are blessing our ruthie girl with a heart of purity, that she would lead a life of holiness and integrity. believing that blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God! (Matthew 5:8)

ruthie girl — it was always you! your daddy and I have longed for you and prayed for you and asked God for you!! i can’t wait to teach you about biblical womanhood while we get our nails done and bake cakes together! you are already my best little girlfriend! and your big brother ADORES you. you are our dream girl. 💖🎀🌸🩰

a little over halfway pregnant with McCullough baby #2! ❤️🍼🕊️ we will never get over the gift it is to carry LIFE and to be entrusted with the opportunity to disciple this baby to know and love God. it feels so sacred!!

arguably the greatest assignments we’ve received from God is to be tools in our children’s discipleship — pointing their hearts to the One who is worthy to be praised and sending them out as arrows of His righteousness into a world longing for His resurrection! we pray that this baby would know that ultimate freedom and total fulfillment comes from an abiding friendship with God. that he/she would be courageous in their faith, compassionate toward others because of the great compassion we’ve received through Christ’s death and resurrection, and convinced of the truths of God’s Word — such that he/she is unwavering in their pursuit of Him, refusing to be taken captive by any ideology that is not according to Christ!

I truly can’t think of a greater way to spend our lives— pouring out our bodies, time, money, and energy as an offering to God for the sake of another soul being raised in the truths of the Gospel. it’s the simple and powerful beauty of discipleship! and it’s how the world is changed — each of us, in our homes, communities, and nations, pouring ourselves out as living sacrifices so that the whole world might know Him.

and as we keep pouring out and keep sacrificing for our children, we just keep finding more joy and more LIFE. it’s almost as if God set it up that way, that we would find our life when we lose it unto Him! what a gift. we praise God for the joy it will be to watch Louis as a big brother, we praise God for the gift of life in my womb, but most of all we praise Him for the gift of eternal life in Him.. FOREVERMORE! revelation 5:1-14 … “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

Spend some time this week reflecting on what Grace really means: Grace is God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. God did not wave a magic wand to wipe out our sin. He sacrificed His perfect life on the cross to come rescue you. He endured the beatings, mocking, and death so you could be set free and be brought back into relationship with God. He rose to show death could not hold Him. What a gift. He was pleased to do that on your behalf. Friend, don’t move too quickly past the gravity of what He did. No greater love. That kind of grace can only lead to an overflow in your life.

What comes out of you when you get bumped? With every interruption and inconvenience, what is your reaction? Is it to lash out or extend grace? When we are filled with grace, we are able to pour out this grace to others. But if we are drawing from our lack, there’s nothing to give. We need to draw from the only One who never runs dry. Ask the Lord what it could look like to give grace to others because you know you have received grace from Him.

Two years ago today I said the greatest “I do” of my life! @helloitsbrie makes me better in every way! She loves deeply, is supportive, caring, kind, forgiving, courageous, strong, and so much more!

Above all these characteristics I am blown away by her love for the Lord. I have never met another human being who loves God as much as she does. Her love for Him spurs me on to love Him more.

This guy in this picture had NO IDEA how amazing of a wife he was marrying! Every day I am more and more amazed at how blessed I am to be partnered with Brie for life! I love you until death!

P.S. These are the crazy vows we committed to 2 years ago. Please help me hold to these and let me know if you see any of these I am not living out! by @cooperallan8

Watching @helloitsbrie step into motherhood has been one of the most amazing things! She was made to do this! Brie, you are so kind, patient, loving, gentle, thoughtful, passionate, caring, and so much more! One of the greatest gifts of this season has been watching you be a mom. You are the best at it! I can’t believe we get to raise babies together!

It’s the best day of the year!! Happy birthday to my beautiful wife!! You are my greatest friend and my most trusted partner. I have only grown more in love with you as we continue to do life together!

You are beautiful, strong, kind, biblical, thoughtful, faithful, and encouraging. There is no one I know that loves Jesus like you do! Every season with you is an amazing adventure and I am confident that you will be the greatest mom! I can’t believe I get to celebrate your birthday for the rest of my life!

A wedding should feel like a holy moment. It points to Creator of covenantal love, and reminds us of the covenant He keeps with those who have trusted in Him.

On May 29th I made heartfelt and self written vows to @helloitsbrie that I will do my very best to keep, but inevitably I will fall short. I am forever grateful to get to serve a God who will never break His covenant with me.

I serve a majestic, holy, beautiful, sovereign, gentle, and powerful God, and my wedding day reminded me of all of these attributes of God. If you weren’t there, the moral of the story is that God became flesh to die that we might live in relationship with Him. This is the perfect love story that has forever changed my life.

To my wife, I love you and I am so excited to partner with you for the rest of my life. I know no one who loves God like you and it inspires me to be more like Him. I love you today and I love you ‘til death. by @cooperallan8
