The second of a 2-step treatment with EarthTec® for zebra mussels is planned for Tuesday July 21 in the morning.

There will be no restrictions on lake activity as this is a copper based treatment in very low parts per billion concentration. Please stay out of the way of the boat.

Zebra mussels are a widespread scourge across New York State. They are invasive, devastate local ecosystems by outcompeting native species, and can foul boats, motors, docks and the lake bottom.

They were first noticed in our lake in 2021, and $80,000 worth of treatments in 2022 attempted to control them. After 3 years of only minor activity, the growth accelerated last year, so CLCS is repeating the treatment.

This treatment is again expected to be quite expensive. CLCS will be conducting a special raffle this season to help offset the cost. by @copakelakecs

Please note that the next lake treatment is this Wednesday June 10. Please refrain from swimming for 24 hours.
This treatment is for control of invasive Eurasian Water Milfoil, as well as to address the filamentous algae growth which is heavy in some shoreline areas. by @copakelakecs

On the unseasonably cold morning of May 30, CLCS held its annual Shoreline Cleanup day. Carmen Barbato again donated a dumpster for the event. The famous CLCS T-shirts were sold by Debbie Ruggieri, Trudi Haberman and Jackie Bernstein while Jed Luchow, Ed Werfelman and Dave Craw manned the dumpster. Copake Country Club and Austin Urban from Wanderlust Realty Short-term Rental Property Managers supplied a truck, along with Corey Brousseau, Brian Elliott, and Donald Matteson, to pickup the items left out around the lake. Thank you to all who participated at their lakefront and who came by to buy merch. by @copakelakecs
