Happy New Year!!!! 🎊

We are excited to invite you all to enjoy some big changes at Copeka in 2025. We’re happy to say that we are very close to welcoming you into the expansion (behind the mysterious sliding door you’ve been wondering about for months). To do this, we needed to do some significant renovations to ensure that folks who use wheelchairs can access the restroom on this side. Super important, and we have been so very lucky to have the help of talented friends to get this done! We’ve also put in a ton of work ourselves. Even still, it’s been very expensive, and with margins as tight as they are in this business we did not have it in our budget. So, we could use your help! We also have some other ideas about how we can make Copeka even better, so we’ve set up a gofundme. Check out the link in our bio and below to find out more and to contribute!

Coral Grief is the Seattle-based dream pop project of Lena Farr-Morrissey (vocals, bass, synth) Sam Fason (guitar, synth) and Cam Hancock (drums). Rich guitars, glowing synths, driving bass, and ethereal vocals swirl around skeletal drum beats to create a textured, intricate sound that is experimental, playful, and catchy.

Social Cinema | Salt | Edging for Brownies
Copeka
1012 N 5th GJCO
7pm Doors
All ages

Social Cinema are a force on stage, deploying tightly wound dance rhythms in the guise of rock songs while singer Griffin Bush evangelizes at center stage, arms flailing and spouting vocally like a cross between King Krule and Joey Ramone. The band’s shows have won fans over with the visceral, nothing-left-on-the-table presentation of a group that has laboriously studied the makings of a great rock show, evidenced by their inclusion on NIVA’s 2025 “Live List,” a who’s who of top emerging live acts, alongside names like Doechii, Jessica Pratt and Mannequin Pussy. Sharing stages with bands like Metric, Saint Motel, The Frights, Bad Nerves, and performances at festivals like SXSW, Treefort Fest, FOCOMX Fest, this band has proven they’re one to watch.

Soft Palms | Ashes & Philth | Lordhunna | Peer Mustic

Soft Palms is the immersive dream-pop project of Julia Kugel and Scott Montoya, a Long Beach-based duo crafting expansive, hypnotic soundscapes from the comfort of their home studio, Centre of Mental Arts (COMA). Blending lo-fi warmth with textural sophistication, Soft Palms feels like a lucid dream set to analog tape, equal parts meditative, cinematic, and deeply human.

The pair, both seasoned creatives and longtime collaborators, record, produce, and mix everything themselves, operating far outside the confines of traditional studio systems. Kugel (of The Coathangers, Julia, Julia, White Woods) brings her ethereal vocal layers and lyrical intimacy, while Montoya (formerly of The Growlers) shapes the sonic architecture with a meticulous, vintage-informed approach to engineering and instrumentation.

Their 2020 self-titled debut, released via Everloving Records, introduced Soft Palms as a genre-fluid exploration of ambient pop, psych, and shoegaze, garnering underground acclaim for its lush arrangements and DIY production style. Follow-up singles “Wash Your Hands” and “Each Wave That Breaks” (2022) continued that trajectory, thoughtful, textural, and sonically transportive.

In 2026, Soft Palms returns with their most expansive work yet: IN ECHO (Everloving Records). Written and recorded at COMA, the album builds on their signature atmosphere while diving deeper into layered introspection, sonic vulnerability, and cosmic repetition. It’s not just a record, it’s a mood, a place, and a reflection of the world turning inward.

Soft Palms is less a band and more a state of mind, where sound becomes sanctuary, and each note feels like it was meant just for you. taken in Copeka Coffee by @copeka_coffee

TLDR: our new seasonal bevvies are delicious. As you’ve come to expect. Come and get ‘em!

Daydream Matcha is a matcha latte with our house made strawberry and almond syrups and a little cloud of strawberry coconut whipped cream (no dairy!). It’s like lying in a field of perfectly cool, dewy grass munching on the sweetest little basket of strawberries and cookies you’ve ever eaten. You feeling it? Or maybe your summer vibe is more about sitting on a shady porch that smells like warm timber, but also with a basket of strawberries because you’re not cold hearted, you’re just in the shade getting cool? That’s what Comfy Cold Brew, a tall glass of cold brew with that little puff of strawberry coconut whipped cream on top, is for. Anyway, we’ve got you.

TV Star | Girldad | Badger Badger
Copeka
1012 N 5th GJCO
All ages
7pm

Formed in the Seattle/Tacoma, WA area in 2020 over a shared admiration of ‘90s psych, classic shoegaze, and the underdogs of alt-country, TV Star is a band that feels both new and lived-in at the same time. Band members Ashlyn Nagel (vocals, keys), Bryan Coats (Guitar), Che Hise-Gattone (Guitar), Mark Palm (Bass), and Tucker Devault (Drums) bring their own instincts, idiosyncrasies, and musical histories to their music, resulting in a quilt of jangly-psych, garage grit, and soft-focus depth. In an era when so much music dissolves into algorithmic sameness, TV Star sounds defiantly human.
