I don’t often sit back and congratulate myself, but I want to take this moment to do exactly that.

Thank you to every collaborator, producer, co-writer, record label, A&R, manager, assistant, engineer, graphic designer, journalist, DJ, curator, and every other human being who conspired alongside the universe to make these moments possible.

From collaborating on Honey Dijon’s The Nightlife, Turbojazz’s Memorabilia, Makez’s Arriving Home Elsewhere, and KMS Records’ The Hood Needs House Vol. 5… to being a songwriter on Beyoncé’s “COZY” as it reached platinum status in the U.S.—I’m deeply grateful.

And thank you to the listeners, dancers, and communities around the world who continue to give this work life.

What a moment. What a time.

It’s wild to live quietly and still make waves across the world.

Cooking up culture. Platinum along the way.

This was a #quarantine record I made in #losangeles with @theoriginalsaedi — when we really really locked inside so everything was done inside. When we discovered studios were only an option.

Here is the write up when we first released:

Cor.Ece and Saedi released a moving-collage music video - for ‘Please, Sir’ - that is interested in showing a juxtaposition of self-care and peace. As a kid, Cor.Ece’s idea of joy was waking up Saturday mornings and eating a bowl of cereal — the visual component of ‘Please, Sir’ explores finding stability and the desire for a music video to have a quality shelf-life based on the unsustainability of digital media. by @cor.ece

2 years ago I made Good Measure during a studio session at @w1curates in London and I knew right away there was something special about this one. Having these two incredible artists @gavinturek & @cor.ece bring it to life with me made it even more special. 🥹💜

Now it’s finally OUT and officially the first release on my own label @4thaluvrec 🥹📼

4THALUV is about soul, rhythm and feeling in house music. So if you’re making music that carries that, I wanna hear it. Send it my way. 🫶🏾

I’d rather sit in a stream that was haphazed than have another conversation about the forecast. Anyway, they say it won’t last. The climate isn’t here to stay; out of sight, out of place.

As we still generate until we can’t slide over to home plate because we have prompted it away. Leaving all of this to stay.

Extreme heat as I mix to the beat—ball-and-chain controller—bopping along, walking on uneasy street. They say: at least he ate because he got our standard rate.

At night I precipitate, been like this since ’88, since my first toothache. High 97, low 76; heat like Clinton on his feet, distracting us with saxophones and cheap meat. Or would you prefer to be dancing in the street with a Jimmy Carter Calvary?

Must be the heat getting to me, gotta be, because my soul is filled with mischief like it’s ’93.

Just don’t discuss the weather with me. Thoughts on my walk this morning. by @cor.ece

There’s a lot to stand for right now. We just have to be standing for something.

An appreciation post for #KehindeWiley, #art on the margins, and the artists who refuse to be erased. So many artists inspired this work. I want to unpack on my Substack soon.
