🍳 Yolk Farm Kitchen is a super place for a child & dog friendly brunch come get outdoors session!

🐓 It’s famous for its free range (cheeky) chickens and everything on the menu features their lovingly laid eggs. They even have funky swing seats for the kids (or big kids) visit the farm shop for cakes of the day and all the usual goodies you’d expect -and of course amazing take eggs to take home!

🏖️ There’s a dog exercise field, play areas and even a beach! Pretty cool way to spend a morning.

🐾 Book ahead for the dog field.

Early morning building — in more ways than one 😅🧱

Hope the holidays are going smoothly for anyone else navigating them.

I started these holidays feeling like I was being dragged through the days -existing in a state of low-level panic, trying to keep far too many balls in the air🥎 🎱 🎾

Worrying about how we’d manage with so little childcare. Worrying about all the clubs (and the expenditure 😵‍💫).

Then came the guilt.

Guilty for putting him in clubs.
Guilty because I couldn’t give work my usual focus.
Guilty that I wasn’t creating enough “memories”.
Guilty because I was anxious, and inevitably that changed my mood at home.

And then I stopped the boat.

Because none of that was sustainable — for any of us.

I decided to stop apologising for having a completely normal family life and a job, and acknowledge something that I think we’re all quietly expected to somehow solve: the way life is set up for working parents just doesn’t fit with a seven-week school holiday.

So I stopped trying to make it fit.

I thought: sod this. I can only do what I can do.

And weirdly, everything has felt lighter since.

Instead of panicking about making the holidays perfect, we’re building a little bit of fun into each day. Building in we time. Building stronger relationships. Building memories that don’t have to be big, expensive or Instagram-worthy to count.

And hopefully building a better foundation -not out of panic, pressure or guilt, but by actually being present for the bits we do have and grateful for them.

And this morning, apparently, we’re also just building Lego. 😂💛

One brick at a time feels pretty good right now 🥰

It’s been a Birthday of making memories. I’ve had two weekends (it fell on a week day so would be rude not to right?) so it’s time for the cards and balloons to come down and normality to resume. Boo 😜 Thanks to everyone who made it special 🫶🏻🍾🥂🧘🏼‍♀️ 🎂 #happybirthdaytome by @coralkeers

POV: You wake up to find a NASA astronaut silently waving at the end of your bed… while the dog sleeps through first contact. 🚀🐶😂
