I called myself a Christian, yet never lived like one. My faith was more of a title than a truth.

Anger lived in me. I spoke darkness into others because it’s how I felt inside. In doing so, I pushed away the very love God sent to heal me.

A wake up call.

Change is uncomfortable, and the first step I’d been avoiding my whole life. So I reached out to the adoption agency that placed me, searching for closure, maybe even peace. Instead, I found out my birth mother and sister had passed.
They sent three photos and an interview — pieces of her story I never knew.
Reading them broke me.

Imagine the worst things a person could endure — now multiply that pain by a hundred. That was her life.
The guilt hit me harder than the grief.
How could I have hated a woman I never knew?
How could I carry resentment toward someone who was simply trying to survive?

I grew up thinking she abandoned me — I now know she gave me a chance.

Now, walking through the hardest three weeks of my life, I finally understand her. I see my reflection in her struggle — the silent battles, the mental storms no one sees.

At first, I disregarded signs, ignored boundaries, and acted out of desperation instead of faith.
I thought if I could just fix what I broke, I’d find peace.
Instead, I pushed them farther, I dug a deeper hole — one that may never be filled.

Yet in that deep hole God placed a lesson.

Peace doesn’t come from control — it comes from surrender.

So I turned to God.
I felt stillness in my soul.
When everything else failed, He was still there — waiting.

God doesn’t hold our past over our heads. He calls us to use it — to let it shape us into who we’re meant to be.
Every scar, every mistake, every wrong turn can still serve His purpose if we let Him rewrite the story.

Now, every day, I make the choice to let go of the anger I once let define me.

I choose to not just wear the name — but walk the walk.

The Lord gives me strength.
And though I don’t know where His plan leads,
I trust Him and wait patiently.

I love you Pop
I love you Mom
I love you Sister
