So what is Shack Gallery?

I have lived in a small casita style home just north of campus for the past four years going to school pursuing my bachelors degree in photography. This small home has served me well as I have grown into the person I have came to be as I navigated my undergraduate degree. I have met many wonderful people and made many unforgettable memories within this home throughout my time here. It has gone through many changes whether that be buying a bunk bed to become a homie hostile for passing through friends, nearly burning down my house a various of times, or even packing it like sardines for the many random gatherings I have had with artists, skateboarders and friends. This house holds a lot of truly wonderful memories and has been monumental in shaping who I have become.

The Shack is now coming to an end since I have finished school and begin to move onto the next chapter of my life as my lease ends in July. It is a sad thing to say but it is time to move on and move forward.

But, My home has been a place where art has came to fruition throughout my entire time in school and it built a community for me finding new friends and creating a family within Tucson. I would not be here without the help from everyone who has supported me and helped me make my art. So for the next nine months the Shack will be a place for art to be shown and create community bringing people together. I will be curating shows and putting together events to make this house shine like it truly should for what it has done for me. My house will become a rotating gallery with shows every month until I move out involving artists, friends and family showing various pieces and bodies of work from the people who have inspired me to be the maker that I am.

So please reach out if you are wanting to get involved whether that be showing work, making flyers, patching holes in my walls, helping run the instagram or even helping with installation before the show. I want to create community and make this house something wonderful and fill it with memories before I leave it.

Also thank you Hannah Aguirre for the wonderful drawing. by @corbinrouette

A Sunday Morning will be on display next Tuesday at the Joseph Gross Gallery in Tucson in a group show Broto/Sprout. The gallery reception will be Thursday April 2nd from 4-6. I hope to see everyone there. This is my final capstone show and I’m proud to be doing something for skateboarding.

This book is an examination of my relationship with skateboarding and its community highlighting what it has done for me. Skateboarding started on a Sunday morning in Prescott and has grown become so much more than that. I am so grateful for all the people I have met though skateboarding. Thank you skateboarding and everyone who has made this possible. by @corbinrouette

I will be having a Bbq at my house to celebrate what would’ve been my mom’s 51st.So bring a chair and something for everyone!I’ll be grilling chicken, burgers and veggie burgers! This book is a conversation of my mother’s and my personal archives talking about the experience of growing up and changing. The party starts at 6:30 I’ll talk about the book more at 7 and then we will celebrate for Sarah. Bring something along and chair. I’d love to see you all there ! by @corbinrouette

I met Greyson on July 9th along my trip this summer as I was heading north to Washington. It was my last day in Bend after spending the past four days going between the river, my campsite, Tactics and the skatepark meeting various skaters. I just wanted to cruise the park one last time before leaving to go to Portland before making it to Washington .

There I met Greyson at the skatepark, like me, he was on a trip of his own and was heading north to Portland the next day. He had come up from Chico with his girlfriend and was planning on going north to Portland to skate and hangout.

We began talking about what we do talking about art, photography, clothing, skating, furniture and the many random things and interests that we share. We exchanged contact information and followed each other on Instagram. We both went out separate ways after skating talking of meeting up in Portland and hanging out again.

We were unable to meet up while in Portland just because of our schedules didn’t line up. But we stayed in contact keeping up with what we both were doing with our lives.

A month later as I am returning from my trip after returning in Washington I shoot Greyson a text a couple days before I get near, telling him I’m coming through the area back to Az and he welcomes me with open arms.

So I stop in Chico and he shows me around taking me to into his home and studio where he makes his clothes and art for his shop that he runs with group of friends. We go to check out his shop then hit the local park showing me all the spots throughout Chico all the random little places he loves taking me to a water hole that we had to hop some fences for.

I never really would’ve expected any of this to come from when I met him in Bend but I am fortunate to have people like this from skateboarding. It is wonderful to see creative people continue to pushing forward who do what they do because they love it. Truly stoked to have met you Greyson and am very excited to see you this winter ❤️ by @corbinrouette
