Thank you all who came to our shows at The Blue Note last weekend #soundsfromtheancestors by @corcoranholt

This is what happens when you put masters on the bandstand… Sean Jones didn’t hold back, never does🔥

Last year at DC Jazz Fest, I had the honor of curating something special during my Artist-in-Residence

Corcoran Holt Super Group featuring
Sean Jones 🎺 , Steve Turre trombone and 🐚 , George Cables 🎹 , Billy Harper 🎷 , Jeff “Tain” Watts 🥁 … and yours truly Corcoran Holt 🎻 .

All master musicians who inspire me and represent the lineage of this music at the highest level.

This clip is @seanyboymusic going all the way in on my tune “14th Street Bounce” (for DC). Jeff “Tain” Watts on drums = Bass playah heaven 🔥

I live for these moments… forever a student of the music.

My son and my father never had the chance to meet. So I wrote a song where they could. 🎶 🎧

“Ibou and Art” — FREEDOM OF ART

Art was born the same year my pops transitioned, and that’s something that has always been difficult for me.

Through this composition, I wanted to create a space where they could meet and have a conversation through music.

My arco (bowed bass) represents my father’s voice, while the soprano sax represents my son Art’s voice. Two generations speaking to one another through sound. 🌍

We performed this live in my hometown of Washington, DC, at @dcjazzfest , and in that moment, I truly felt my father’s presence. 🙏🏾

Music has a way of connecting us beyond time and space. That’s one of the reasons I do what I do.

🎶 Listen to the album version of “Ibou and Art” on Freedom of Art.

💿 Signed double vinyl LPs and CDs available at CorcoranHolt.com.

Wishing my Queen @raven.g.holt a HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 👑🎂🙌🏾

Rae we’ve spent almost 20 birthdays together, and every year I say the same thing. I am beyond thankful that you came into my life. From the day you entered it, you’ve been a blessing, and I don’t take that for granted.

There is truly no one on the planet like you! Anybody who knows you will agree. You have an energy that changes the room the moment you walk into it. You have a gift for lifting people up, especially when they need it most.

I’ve watched you be the most incredible mother, an amazing friend, a strong and loving sister, and the most supportive daughter. And when it comes to being a wife, I honestly can’t find the words to express just how loving, supportive, and incredible you are.

You ALWAYS keep it 💯, even when I don’t want to hear all of that! 😂 And most of the time (not ALL the time 😁), you’re right!

You have a vision and intuition that I sometimes don’t recognize or fully understand in the moment. But when things unfold, I find myself saying, “Well damn, there she goes again!” 😂 Very brilliant, so insightful, and always seeing things from a perspective that makes me think differently.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for loving me, for loving our family, for challenging me, for believing in me, and for blessing this world with your presence.

Happy Birthday Rae!!! ❤️

They say not all superheroes wear capes, but you don’t need one anyway because you’re already fly just the way you are! 💯

Wishing you many, many more trips around the sun, filled with love, laughter, good health, peace, adventure, and everything your heart desires.

We Love you!!! ❤️🖤💚🎂 by @corcoranholt

Please Help me wish my little sister @kasminholt a HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY!!!! 🙌🏾🎉 🎂

It’s hard to believe you’re 40, Kaz!!! Time is moving fast!

I’m so proud of the woman you are and all that you continue to become. I wish you nothing but continued success, great health, peace, love, and all the happiness this life has to offer. You have accomplished so much and continue too. I proud of you.

You are an amazing sister, loving daughter, the best auntie, niece, and, most importantly, an incredible human being. You have such a huge heart and do so much for so many people, often putting others before yourself. Let’s not get it twisted though… that Scorpio stinger is REAL and not to be played with! 😂 ♏️🦂

More than anything, I just want to see you happy, living life to the fullest, and enjoying every moment along the way. Life is precious, and you deserve all the beautiful things it has to offer.

Even though I’m your big brother, I continue to learn so much from you, and I’m grateful for that. I’m blessed to have you as my little sister, and I hope you always know how much you are loved and appreciated by me.

Welcome to the 40 CLUB, Kazzy!!! 🥳

We love you! Happy Birthday, and here’s to many, many more trips under the sun ☀️ 🙌🏾!!!

Interview with - @doublebasshq “I try to create that environment at ASU @asumusicdancetheatre with the bass studio I have. I tell them: look at the person next to you.

You never know where you’ll be 20 years from now — you guys are gonna be subbing gigs for each other, or if you’re teaching, you’ll bring this person out to do a master class. Music is really about community.

That’s been one of the greatest parts of being out here — developing the community that’s so needed. I’m just taking the roots of where I come from and expanding them out to where I am.” -Corcoran Holt ( Full interview in @doublebasshq Bio) #CorcoranHolt #Bassist #asuschoolofmusicdanceandtheatre #professor #doublebasshq by @corcoranholt

My Boy! It’s the SUPPORT for me! 🙌🏾🔥❤️

Had a blast judging @sol_power_az_ at @asumusicdancetheatre ! Huge thanks to Prof. @tasha_b_va for the invitation! 🙏🏾

What a great day filled with incredible talent, creativity, and community! All the contestants brought something special to the floor! 🔥

Before the competition started and between battles, the dance floor opened up for everyone to get down. And of course, Art and Freedom jumped right in! 😂❤️ Man, it was such a beautiful thing to witness!

The energy, the love, the encouragement, and the SUPPORT were everything! This is what community is all about. Yesterday was a GREAT day! 🙏🏾☀️🎶
