Hi, I’m Natasha — Owner and head trainer of Core K9 Dog Training 🐾✨!

Dogs have always been a part of my life — from taking in strays to volunteering at the Humane Society. That passion grew into a commitment to helping dogs and their owners build stronger, more meaningful relationships.

These dogs right here? They’re the foundation of everything I teach.

Osito, Oakley, and Levana (Last pic RIP💛) each played a role in shaping the way I train today — teaching me structure, patience, communication, and the importance of real relationship.

My mission is to help people truly understand their dogs — beyond commands and obedience — and build relationships rooted in trust, structure, and clear communication. My goal is to help you build a dog that is calm, confident, and reliable, while creating a relationship rooted in trust, clarity, and understanding.

At Core K9, we focus on:
– Clear communication
– Balanced training
– Structure and consistency
– Confidence in dog and handler
– Proper tool use
– Real-life reliability

If you’re ready to build a stronger relationship with your dog, I’m here to help. I work with all breeds, ages, and temperaments — whether you’re starting with a puppy or working through behavioral challenges.

When this boy first came to us, he was reactive toward dogs and people, overly protective of his family, and struggling with boundaries. His family was afraid someone might get bitten, and Mom couldn’t even walk him on her own.

Fast forward to today, and LOOK AT HIM. 😭 His family has more confidence, Mom can walk him even with the baby, guests can come over, and he’s learning to navigate everyday life with more structure and stability.

This is why we do what we do. It’s not just about teaching commands. It’s about giving dogs and their families the tools to live happier, more confident lives together. 🐾

Your dog’s behavior doesn’t have to be your forever.

Meet Daisy! 👋 She’s showing off one of the skills we practice for real-life situations: doorbell manners + place.

Instead of rushing the door when the bell rings, Daisy knows exactly what’s expected of her. She is told to go to her "place", holds position, and waits calmly while her people handle the door.

Want your dog to have reliable manners in real-world situations? Core K9 Dog Training can help you build those skills. Schedule your free consultation today. by @corek9dogtraining

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!

Bringing home a shelter dog is exciting, but remember that the transition can take time. 🐾

Give your new dog a chance to decompress and adjust to their new surroundings. Keep the environment calm and controlled in the beginning, establish structure and consistency, and let your relationship build naturally.

A little patience in the beginning can go a long way toward building a confident, trusting companion. 🤍 by @corek9dogtraining

4 things I recommend starting with as soon as you bring your puppy home:

1. Kennel Training 🐾
Kennel training is about so much more than having a place for your puppy to sleep. It can help with potty training by teaching your puppy to recognize when they need to go and develop better bladder control. It also provides a safe space for travel, medical situations, and times when your puppy needs to be safely confined. For many dogs, the kennel can also mimic the natural den-like environment they instinctively seek.

2. Leash Breaking
Get your puppy comfortable wearing and following a leash early. You can start with a leash attached to a buckle collar or use a properly fitted slip leash. If your dog isn’t comfortable on a leash, it can make training much more difficult.

And when your puppy makes a mistake, **grab the leash, not the puppy.** Using your hands as punishment can create confusion and fear, and can even contribute to submissive urination. Your hands should be associated with safety, handling, and good things.

3. Start Training Early
Don’t wait until your puppy develops bad habits. Start teaching structure, communication, and boundaries from day one. And honestly, hire a trainer early if you can. It’s much easier to build good habits from the beginning than to undo unwanted ones later.

4. Exposure, Exposure, Exposure
Your puppy needs to experience the world. New people, sounds, environments, surfaces, sights, and situations all help build confidence and neutrality. And exposure doesn’t mean your puppy has to be walking everywhere right away. A wagon, carrier, or bag can be a great way to safely introduce your puppy to new environments while they’re still young.

The goal isn’t to overwhelm your puppy. It’s to thoughtfully introduce them to the world and help them learn how to navigate it with confidence. by @corek9dogtraining

Dog training is all about fitting training into your lifestyle. If it’s not something you and your dog enjoy or feel excited about, you’re much less likely to stay consistent or see lasting success.

The goal isn’t to force training into your life. It’s to find an approach that works for both you and your dog, making training something you can genuinely enjoy together. by @corek9dogtraining

The dog you want to live with doesn’t just happen.

You have to set the standards and expectations. When you maintain clear communication with your dog about what you want from them, you help them fully understand what’s expected.

Training isn’t about changing who your dog is. It’s about teaching them how to confidently live within the life you want to share together.

You define the standards. We help you build them! by @corek9dogtraining

Because we believe great training starts with the relationship between you and your dog!

Trust creates a connection between you and your dog(s).
Clarity creates a better understanding.
Balance shows what consistency can do.

Training is about more than commands. It’s about building that trust, understanding each other, and helping your dog feel confident in everyday life. by @corek9dogtraining
