I’ve been back in the CONUS for nearly two years now, and while I deeply love my family and my community, I find myself asking a question that won’t leave me alone:

Why do we stay?

Why do Black people continue to build lives in places where we are systematically underfunded, overtaxed, and overpoliced? Where our children face threats from every direction — from processed foods engineered to harm their bodies, to bullets in their backs?

We arrived here with nothing — stripped of our land, our names, our very language — and still we built one of the most powerful nations in human history. That is not a small thing. That is a testament to who we are.

So the question isn’t whether we can build somewhere else. History has already answered that.

The question is: why haven’t we?

What would it look like to take that same energy, that same genius, that same resilience — and pour it into a place that actually wants us? A place we choose, on our own terms, for our own future?

She didn't just raise children — she built a generation. A whole legacy of doctors, artists, musicians, creators, and fighters. All because of one woman.

We don’t talk about it enough.
Too many of our Black men are leaving this world in silence — not because they were weak, but because they carried too much, for too long, alone.

We’re taught to “man up.”
To keep pain private.
To fight battles nobody even knows we’re in.
But the truth is… silence has taken too many of us.

If you’re reading this, you matter.
You’re not a burden.
You’re not broken.
You are needed — alive, breathing, and healing.

Check on your brothers.
Ask more than “you good?”
And if you’re the one struggling… don’t just hold it in. Talk. Cry. Reach out.

It was around 3am in the morning and my daughter Aloha jumps in a cold sweat screaming and trying to console her I asked what was she dreaming about.. Her response, a shooting at the school. They had just had a school shooting drill a few days ago and all I could do was just rock and hold her. So after she went back to sleep and I lay holding her, I started write and asked myself, what kind of society do we envision for our children today? wtf by @coreyddowdell

A Night of Light, A Legacy of Love ✨🕊️

Flying my drone over the Hawaii Memorial Light Festival was a moment of pure reflection. Seeing the lanterns drift across the water, each carrying love, memories, and prayers, reminded me of my mother, Christine Dowdell. Her light still shines through everything I do, and this was my way of honoring her spirit.

Her legacy lives on through Christine’s Heart, and every step I take is to make sure her love, strength, and wisdom continue to uplift others. Rest in power, Mom. Your light will never fade.

Father God, I am just learning how to pray, so bear with me.
First, I thank you for the life you have given me, for the blessings you have handed out to me, for the lessons you have taught me, and for the things you have brought me through.
I thank you for the times I have fallen, for it was then that you picked me up. I thank you for the times I felt lost, for it was then that you showed me the way.
And I thank you for the times I have been weak, for it was then that you gave me strength.

Father, I ask that you bless my enemies, for they have not known you as I have.
I ask that you bless my friends, for they have stuck by me through thick and thin.
And I ask that you touch the hearts of those who have turned away from me, that they may know that you are love.

Father, I am your humble servant, willing and ready to do your will.
I ask that you continue to guide me, to show me what is right, to strengthen my faith, and to increase my wisdom.
I ask that you walk with me, talk with me, and remind me that I am never alone.
