POSTS STORIES REELS

One minute it’s broad daylight, the next you’re walking out wondering where the entire day went. Please tell me I’m not the only one who completely loses track of time in there. @tjmaxx

There are moments that stop you in your tracks.

Seeing my photo displayed as part of the Stark County Black History Museum exhibit in the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum for the first time was already incredibly special. Experiencing that moment alongside my mother and my son made it even more meaningful.

This exhibit, which opened on Juneteenth, honors the stories, legacies and contributions of Black people throughout Stark County. I’m deeply grateful to have my story included and for three generations of my family to witness this moment together. ❤️

Power isn’t just what we say. Power is what we do.

Today, I’m using mine to VOTE.

I vote for those who came before me and fought for our right to vote. I vote for those who will come after me and inherit the future we create today. I vote because my voice deserves to be heard.

When we vote, we advocate for our families, our communities, our values, and our future.

Change doesn’t happen when we stay silent. It happens when we show up and VOTE!

🗳️My power is my vote.

A walk together. Her hand in mine. A little time to simply be mother and daughter. ❤️

Caring for my mom, who lives with severe mental illness, comes with responsibilities that don’t always make it into a video. But I want to share these moments, too. The everyday connection that matters just as much as the calls, planning, and advocating.

Today, we honored the legacy of my grandmother, Wanetta “Miss Vickie” Minor, through Miss Vickie’s Candy Shop, a vision brought to life by my aunt, Shandra “Shanie” Minor, during the City of Canton Parks and Recreation Harvest Festival. Today is my grandma’s heavenly birthday. We have given out candy in her neighborhood since her death as coordinated by my aunt. We now cherish both their memories and continue to give in their names.

Seeing the laughter, smiles, and even a few spooky faces reminded us how important community, family, and cherished memories truly are. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the joy of Fall.

And remember, before you go to bed tonight, fall back and turn your clocks back one hour! 🍁🎃🍭

I’m an attorney, author and advocate, but my “why” starts with being a daughter.

My mother lives with schizophrenia, and our journey is why I speak up for Black families navigating severe mental illness.

I share our story to help other families feel less alone, challenge the stigma and remind caregivers that they deserve care, too.

As a caregiver, I’m learning to make room for my own care, too. This time, that meant arriving early for a little pampering at Nà Sah’s in the Nashville airport. Caregivers deserve more than whatever time is left over.🧖🏽‍♀️✈️

Sometimes “I’m fine” means I’m one question away from falling apart.

I know what it feels like to hold back tears while trying to keep showing up. Counseling gives me space to stop holding it all in, and I’m not ashamed of needing that support.

It took three counselors to find the right fit. If you’re still searching, don’t give up on getting the care you deserve. Caregivers need care too. ❤️
