The Angel of Indian Lake is the conclusion of the Indian Lake Trilogy. The story picks up 4 years after Don't Fear the Reaper. Jade once again is fresh out of prison. In this installment we are fully back in Jades crazy brain, which for me really brings this book down. One of my biggest dislikes on My Heart is a Chainsaw is how crazy Jades brain is, so if that was something you didn't care for in that, you won't like it in this one. The excitement picks up fairly quickly and is pretty much all out chaose through a majority of the book. While I do think this is better than My Heart is a Chainsaw, it's still barely a 4 star. Don't Fear the Reaper is definitely the best book in this series. by @coreysreadingnook

It has been a Stephen Graham Jones year for me in 2026 and I'm still going to try to get through 4 more of his books. I'm finishing up The Indian Lake Trilogy this month with The Angel of Indian Lake. After reading The Only Good Indians last month I am so ready for Off the Reservation. I recently got Last Final Girl so I'm excited to get to that one. I'm hoping I can squeeze in Zombie Bale-Off and I Was A Teenage Slasher.

What are your favorite Stephen Graham Jones books? I would love to get some of his older works, it's just hard to track down at a decent price. by @coreysreadingnook

Yet another Pango book haul, I really need to stop, but I keep finding great deals and books that I want! I have been wanting to pick up Horrorstör for a while and couldn't pass up the deal of just a few bucks. While trying to fill my cart I found Atlanta Burns and The Hunt by Chuck Wendig, it's YA from what I can gather, but I love a fun YA. Brother has had a lot of buzz, son really interested to see what this is all about. Picked up Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare to replace the movie poster edition that I have. And finally the main reason for this haul was for Last Final Girl by Stephen Graham Jones, I've been trying to find some of his older books and came across this one at a steal! by @coreysreadingnook

Let Gravity Seize The Dead ⭐ 1/2

I went into this thinking I would enjoy it. But what ingorness a book that I struggled with. I did not enjoy the writing style at all, I felt very jumpy and had to re-read things just to make sure I was reading it right. I think this could have been a really good story, it has very very dark themes, it just wasn't well written. by @coreysreadingnook

Thank you to John Joseph Ward for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

He Smiled Last follows a group of 4 friends as they are in the midst of backpacking through Europe. While they are out, they get an invite to to a party on a secluded Greek island.

I had a lot of fun reading this. As the story unfolds bit by bit you know that something is wrong with the entire situation. Jake is the most level headed of his friends, but they don't seem to listen to him after during a previous adventure, he spoiled the "fun" of it. Though he also has a track record of being right. I don't want to give much away with this book as it is short, but I will say that if you want a story that feels claustrophobic on an island, this may be for you. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend He Smiled Last. by @coreysreadingnook

I really need to stay away from Pango, but @mollywog_reads found a listing for 3 of the White Trash Zombie books and I had to pick them up. I read the first one a few months ago and loved it. Now I just need to find the rest of the series. by @coreysreadingnook

When I first read My Heart is a Chainsaw, I was very mid in it..it was a book that started slow, threw my brain all over the place and I really disliked Jade. I wasn't even positive if I'd continue the series or despite raring or a 4⭐. So going into Don't Fear The Reaper, I had pretty mild expectations. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this second installment of the Indian Lake Trilogy though. Right from the start I was pulled into the story. We pick up about 4 years after the Independence Day Massacre, Jade now goes by Jennifer and is a changed person after what has happened. But Proofrock just can't stay a nice quiet town, something always has to come around and stir the pot.

I highly recommend this and if you were like me with My Heart is a Chainsaw, I think you should give Don't Fear The Reaper a chance to change your mind. by @coreysreadingnook
