A M A N G I R I

one of those moments where the whole week felt like a dream. amangiri is tucked away in remote valley in southern utah - it completely blends in with the surrounding landscape. the design is absolutely stunning and it provides a pocket of modernist sandstone luxury in the desert.

although I took many of my favorite photos ever on my southwest roadtrip, ending the trip with shooting @amangiri was such a blessing, and I can’t wait to share more of it with you! taken in Amangiri, UT by @coriefay

new york city, golden hour looks good on you! some of my favorite nyc photo I’ve ever taken, and one of the best sunsets in the city that I’ve ever experienced. there are moments in life where you’re just so happy that you forget, for just a second, everything negative in the world around and just appreciate the moment you’re in. this was one of those moments for me 🥰

i theth you could say this is a pretty good view

if switzerland or the canadian rockies are the alpine views you’ve had on your radar, add the albanian alps to that list!! same scale of mountains, a fraction of the crowds - that’s me down there ◡̈

there’s a real reason for that gap - albania was closed off from the rest of the world for decades under communist rule, so while other alpine destinations spent that time building out trails, cable cars, and viewpoints, albania simply wasn’t part of that. international tourism here has really only picked up in the last couple of years, most of the growth has happened since 2024

which means hikes like valbona to theth still feel like they belong to whoever happens to be walking them that day. no lines, no crowded viewpoints, just mountains 🫶🏼

it’s definitely an underrated alpine trip and one that’s in a country with some incredible beaches but more on that soon 🙂‍↕️ taken in Theth by @coriefay

flagging poros as your new favorite lesser-known island in greece 🇬🇷

if you’re looking for a way to visit some of the islands you’ve probably never heard of but will never forget, @theyachtweek is the way to do it. poros isn’t the name that comes up when people talk about greece, that’s usually the cyclades (santorini, mykonos, etc.) but it’s exactly the kind of stop that makes the whole trip. quiet harbor, closer to the mainland than you’d think, and some of the best sunsets of the entire week.

i first did this route five years ago and i’ve been back a handful of times since. the stops start to feel familiar after enough summers, same restaurants, same bars, same clock tower sunsets. not every place needs to be new to still mean something 🙂‍↕️ taken in Poros Island, Greece by @coriefay

cliché or not, santorini sunsets still blue me away

i backpacked through here years ago on close to no budget, came back once to bring my best friend, and this time, remembered why I added this to my bucket list when I was a teenager.

santorini gets a lot of side-eye for being overexposed, every wall lined with people waiting for the same photo, every staircase a little too familiar before you’ve ever climbed it. and yeah, oia at golden hour is crowded. but there’s a reason it ended up on everyone’s bucket list in the first place, and standing there again, past the crowd of phones and flying dresses, that reason is still exactly what i remembered.

those blue domes are actual working churches, if that changes how you look at the photo even a little. the color isn’t ancient either, a 1953 earthquake took out most of santorini and the rebuild just happened to land on white walls with blue trim. everyone since has kept the look going.

if the crowd at oia castle gets to be too much, walk five minutes down to ammoudi bay instead, same view, more room to actually sit with it. stay a little past sunset too, the windmills light up and it might end up being your favorite part of the whole evening.

some places live up to the hype every single time. this is still one of them. taken in Santorini, Greece by @coriefay

sardinia is made for pinterest boards

i’ve been to 50+ countries and the baunei coast might have the bluest water i’ve ever seen. also very casually became one of my favorite travel days ever.

you can easily rent a little self-drive boat, pack snacks and spend 9 hours making your way down the coast with no real plan besides swimming and stopping anywhere that looked good. turns out pretty much everywhere looks good 🙂‍↕️

save these stops:

🩵 cala goloritzé // my favorite beach in the world
🩵 cala mariolu // the bluest water of the day
🩵 cala dei gabbiani // the quietest little stop
🩵 cala birìala // the prettiest cliffs + caves
🩵 cala luna // the most dramatic beach

no license needed for the smaller boats, no real itinerary needed either. just pick a direction, find a cove, anchor, swim, repeat.

i love a big travel day with a million things planned, but there’s something about having nowhere you need to be and an entire coastline to explore that’s hard to beat.

would do this day again and again and again. taken in Costa di Baunei by @coriefay

so there’s a giant crater in the middle of the turkmenistan desert that’s been on fire for decades

its called the darvaza gas crater, better known as the “gates of hell.”

the story goes that a drilling operation caused the ground to collapse into a natural gas cavern, creating this massive crater. it was set on fire (reportedly to stop methane from escaping) with the expectation that the gas would burn out in a week or so

it didn’t.

50+ years later, it’s still burning in the middle of the karakum desert, and somehow seeing it in person is even more surreal than it sounds

we arrived before sunset, watched the crater slowly get brighter as the sky went dark, and camped nearby for the night

one of those places where the journey to get there is half the experience - and easily one of the wildest things i saw in central asia 🔥 taken in Turkmenistan by @coriefay

one thing i didn’t expect to be so obsessed with in uzbekistan: the doors 🙂‍↕️

i genuinely kept stopping to take photos of them. every single one felt different, with intricate carvings and little details that have been there for centuries 🙂‍↕️

if you’re looking for one of the most unique travel experiences in the world, this might be it.

for four days, we explored the mountains of kyrgyzstan on horseback, crossing rivers, sleeping in yurts, meeting local families, and traveling through landscapes that felt completely untouched by modern life.

it’s easy to think you’ve seen it all after traveling for a while. then a place like kyrgyzstan comes along and reminds you how much of the world is still waiting to surprise you.

this wasn’t just one of my favorite experiences in central asia - it was one of my favorite travel experiences, period.

and honestly? the videos don’t even come close to doing it justice.

@ibraim.explorer and I considering putting together a small group trip out here in the future.

would you do a horseback riding expedition through kyrgyzstan?

let me know below 🙂‍↕️🫶🏼 taken in Kyrgyzstan by @coriefay

if you’d asked me to picture the silk road before this trip, i would’ve pictured a line on a map

then i got to samarkand in uzbekistan

for centuries, this was one of the most important crossroads on earth - a place where merchants, explorers, scholars, and empires met on their journeys between east and west

goods passed through here, but so did ideas, religions, languages, technologies, and cultures that helped shape the world we know today

today, it’s a city of turquoise domes, intricate mosaics, and stories from more than 2,000 years of history. one of those places that feels impossibly grand in photos and somehow even more impressive in person

uzbekistan has been one of the biggest surprises of this year for me. i came knowing very little and left wondering why more people aren’t talking about it

before this trip, the stans werent on my bucket list.

now i’d tell almost anyone to add it to theirs 🙂‍↕️ taken in Samarkand Uzbezkistan by @coriefay
