🥹 It's been a rough road, but I'm half way to black belt now. 🤙🏻

I have been training for nearly 13 years.

Those who have followed me the last few years know how much I have struggled to find my place within competition in combat sports, (and combat sports as a whole). I made headlines on propagandic news sites just for existing and wanting to compete. Over two dozen gyms have shut their doors to me, simply for wanting to train as an equal on the mats. Coaches have abandoned me at crucial moments during my competitions. Even in places I could train, I watched over the years as peers who put in less time and who had less skill got promoted time and time again without coaches even batting an eye my way. Not even stripes. While I still have gyms I can train at, I have felt invisible when it comes to recognition of my skill level. I nearly accepted that getting promoted would just continue to be gatekept from me.

Enter Ozzy.
They have watched me grow, and they have seen me compete against a number of diverse people across a plethora of stages all across the nation. They have given me advice along the way that I still hold near and dear to me. While they have not physically cornered me, they have given me knowledge that helped me strategize myself to victory many times.

Thank you to Ozzy for always being so supportive of me and my journey. I'm really looking forward to continuing to work with you and learn all that I can along the way. Thank you for being not only my mentor, but a great friend as well. I hope someday I get the opportunity to pay it forward and give back to the community in similar ways.

It's an extra special moment for me with it being Trans Day of Visibility.

I'm thankful for those who show me their support through actions. I've always held the belief that actions speak the loudest, and I won't soon forget this one.

I'm glad I kept persevering. I'm glad I kept showing up. I plan to keep that same energy as I continue on, and to manifest it into something greater than myself for the community.

Don't give up. Endure. Endure.

Look y'all, I'm on Tapology now! 🥹

Dreams can come true! As long as you run towards them, not away from them, you can achieve it if you believe in it!

I took out like 100 guys just by doing this.

(Yes, this shadowboxing footage is horrible - I took this on the beach several years ago. I can shadowbox way better than this, promise. ;3 )

I train hard so I can enjoy food. Except when it's fight camp - then I have to eat like I'm a fashion model. 🥲

Shout out to @thegorillanyc for holding pads for me last year, and for helping me out for a week when I had my last fight. I miss ya bud!

You versus You! Fall down seven times, stand up eight! Don't let the outside noise distract you. Put on headphones and lock in. #mma #youvsyou #mmamotivation #keepgoing💪 #showup by @corissathechimera
