Figured it was time to update the “Best of the Year” anthologies I have stories in.

My Nebula-nominated short story “Once Upon a Time at The Oakmont” appears in Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2024, Nebula Awards Showcase 59, The Long List Anthology 9, and Year’s Best Canadian Fantasy & Science Fiction Volume 2.

My other Nebula-nominated short story “Through the Machine” appears in Nebula Awards Showcase 61 and the forthcoming Year’s Best Canadian Fantasy & Science Fiction Volume 4.

My short story “Into the Frozen Wilds” appears in Year’s Best Canadian Fantasy & Science Fiction Volume 1.

And my short story “Bright Horizons” appears in Year’s Best Canadian Fantasy & Science Fiction Volume 3.

Additionally, my novella LOST CARGO was listed as one of the best novellas of 2022 in Year’s Best Canadian Fantasy & Science Fiction Volume 1, and “Through the Machine” was also listed as a Notable Story in the Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2026 (not pictured).

I’m honored that these stories have been so well received and that the various editors of these anthologies thought them worthy of being included among the best of the year. by @cornellwriter

A few more random pics from my little anniversary getaway with my husband.
1. Our lovely room at @innonthetwenty where we’ve stayed many times.
2. Right across the street is the @cavespringvineyard shop, so of course we stopped by for a tasting.
3. While we’ve been to Jordan many times, we’d never before stopped at @lincolnmuseumon. We were just in time to see their Grape & Wine Festival exhibit and we also took their little historical tour which was amazing. Our guide was both knowledgeable and delightful.

We had the pleasure of dining at @restaurant_pearlmorissette for the first time last evening. I’ve wanted to dine there for a long time, but it’s not easy to get a reservation. We finally got a chance to celebrate both our anniversary and my book launches this year, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re not familiar with this restaurant, what attracted me most was their mission to source ingredients from their own farm, surrounding Niagara farmers and producers, and other Canadian businesses. Basically, you won’t find anything on your plate that isn’t grown or made on Canadian soil. And unlike most restaurants that design a menu then source ingredients, Restaurant Pearl Morissette starts with the ingredients then they create the dishes these inspire. As a result, you get an ever-changing menu that’s always seasonal and imaginative and that has earned the restaurant a well-deserved 2-star rating from @michelinguide. As an artist, myself, I value the attention to detail that goes into every dish. You can see from the pictures I took that the presentation is stunning each time. I can assure you the flavours, scents, and textures are perfectly paired as well. Service is provided by staff who clearly care about the experience they’re providing. In short, it was a real privilege to get to experience this multi-course meal. @pearlmorissette is also a winery, so of course we selected a couple of their wines to accompany our meal. And I finished mine with some tea straight from their own garden that included mint, holy basil, lemon verbena, and lavender. The bread you see pictured is also wonderful and can be purchased from @rpm_bakehouse where we stopped in the morning for pastries and tea. While every course was flawless, we still had some favourites. My husband loved the lobster (pic 7), and I loved the carrot crisp stuffed with lobster and scallop roe pate (pic 1) as well as the peas served with the white fish (pic 4). Many thanks to the entire @restaurant_pearlmorissette team for a wonderful celebration. I also very much appreciated the lovely personalized cards signed by the staff to commemorate the occasion. We hope to return again very soon. by @cornellwriter
