Thank you, everyone, for joining us last weekend for our special events related to @rebecca_diele / 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺. It was a special weekend. A few little pics here, with thanks to dear @miiichieeeh for capturing the sweetest moments. Also a couple of images of three stunning finished drawings by the lovely Naushin (@masala.mistress), Julius (@salamander_dawg) and Dean. 🖤

We didn’t capture our poetry circle, but the magic was alive and well there, thanks to our guests. We leave you with la poem by E.E. Cummings that we shared and two aphorisms by Sarah Manguso (whose brilliant book, 𝘖𝘯𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘺, we discussed) that we’ve been thinking about today.

Thank you, Bec, for inspiring us. ✨

𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 featuring @rebecca_diele

Working across sculpture, installation and textile-based processes, Rebecca Diele’s practice explores systems under pressure through repetition, structure and disruption. She develops grids, sequences and repeated gestures that transform through material intervention, allowing ordered structures to soften, deform and shift. Within these interruptions, states of strength and vulnerability are held in suspension, as materials move between control and release, resistance and yielding.

During her 2024-25 residency at the @austapestry, Diele began exploring bell-ringing, continuing her interest in relationality and connecting the layered, methodical nature of tapestry-making with her exploration of rhythm, interruption, and harmony in art, culminating in the realisation of her installation, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 2025 (first image pictured).

In 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮, Diele returns to bell-ringing, exploring intersecting notions of reverence, ritual, and order, delving deeper into her recent inquiries into death, mourning and finitude.
