Last night was so special 📚We kicked off the first of the At The Table speaker series at @philosophersandfoolschs. I sat down with @corrie_wang @karaashleyhammond & @paulaannekramer to talk about community, entrepreneurship and learn from these incredible women in Charleston hospitality!

My loves, there is too much to say about @thisisfabchs . Maybe it was the Year Ten of it OR THE FRICKING INCREDIBLE WOMEN WHO ATTEND but it felt particularly, well, FAB-ULOUS this year. Prolly it’s the whole, being surrounded by only ladies thing. But let’s number it out…

1-3 Chatted on three terrific panels about the greater roll of the business owner, financial lit-stuff, and build outs with seriously the best minds in the biz.
4. IRL met some of my @indprestaurants crew. 1000 percent better than zoom.
5. I LOVE when people come to chat with me after a panel. Hands down fave part. This year was no different.
6. Finally went to an old friend’s restaurant to have a quieter (but very boss) evening with pals old and new.
7. Year three. Still hide by myself at lunch hour.
8. Ended by hanging with the most fab lady at the event (and simply one of my favorite humans ever.)
9. Pure relief that we did it (!!!) with one of my new favorite humans @jenhidingerkendrick (and did it really well, I think!) taken in Charleston, South Carolina by @corrie_wang

Oh huh! I wonder what episode @foodnetwork is doing tonight? COULD IT BE BBQ? Perhaps our own lil @kingbbqchs is featured on the list. You’ll just have to watch to find out airing at 10|9c on Food Network and streaming on HBO max starting tomorrow. Wowie. Zowie.

Ugh. Park Circle. My heart is so full. #parkcirclepride JUMPED OFF this year. Thank you for mobbing us @kingbbqchs yesterday for Drag Bingo. Thank you @mercy.madison and @the_shuaiwang for both just being fabulous humans. Thank you to the rest of our team who f*cking HELD IT DOWN while we got to play outside. Staring at you @mermeghan @queen_edens @kmoo1289 and @seeking_shelby for coming in on the fly.

And today ohhhh @jackrabbitfilly. It’s our 5th year of honoring Rita. The owner of the Park Circle lesbian bar whose space the OG Jackrabbit got her start at. And tonight above every other year, was FRICKING AMAZING. From our regulars who have been coming to this event for years, to our people - our staff - who always always bring the dress up, to our other team members who came in dressed up EVEN THO THEY WEREN’T WORKING. I love you all so much. & I LOVE our neighborhood. & I LOVE our community. & yes I LOVE these restaurants. But man do I really love our teams.

@the_shuaiwang and @corrie_wang , husband-and-wife owners of @jackrabbitfilly and @kingbbqchs in North Charleston, South Carolina, recently came into the spotlight with Shuai’s appearance on Top Chef. “I met a lot of great chefs and lifelong friends, learned a lot about myself, and I think the chefs really pushed me forward, creative-wise” says the chef, who was a finalist. ⁠

When they’re home, the Wangs, in Shuai’s words, “eat like f—ing children,” with chicken fingers a staple. “Corrie makes really, really amazing salad. Besides Chinese food, we make a lot of [Latin] food, particularly Mexican food, so a lot of beans and rice. We’re also big fans of a snacky girl dinner with just cheeses and tinned fish,” he says. For a midnight snack, Shuai reaches for peanut butter and dates, while Corrie says she goes for “some kind of ice cream, and I’ll just take spoonfuls and eat it over the sink.”⁠
