This week's Fan Friday comes in from Australia, and it has a story to go with it.

Mike Ryan's 2007 C6 Z06 was bought new in Vermont. When its first owner moved to Australia, the Z06 went along — and got converted to right-hand drive at a cost of $50,000. That's a big deal on a car Chevrolet didn't build with the wheel on the right until the C8 came along.

It's finished in Atomic Orange Metallic Tintcoat, one of only 673 Z06s painted that color in 2007, and it's powered by the hand-built 505 hp LS7. Mike is the second owner, and his review is short: "Drives like a dream!"

This week's Fan Friday belongs to Bill, an 81-year-old retired pastor whose Magnetic Red Metallic C5 has just 26,431 miles and a light oak interior. He's thinking about exhaust next, so we put together our picks for his car.

2002 was the biggest year of the whole C5 run, and only 1,609 coupes were built in Magnetic Red Metallic. 🏁

Fan Friday: Walter Nabozny's 2026 Corvette Z06 Stars & Steel hardtop convertible — number 116 of 250.

Chevrolet built the Stars & Steel edition to mark America's 250th birthday, and the entire run is 250 cars across the whole Corvette lineup. Walter's is the Black spec: satin black flag-inspired stripes running the length of the car, Adrenaline Red leather, red seat belts, Edge Red calipers. The build sequence number appears on the sill plates and on a plaque inside the cabin.

He took it to the 31st annual Woodward Dream Cruise and put it in front of Vinsetta Garage, a 1919 building on Woodward that fixed cars for the better part of a century. As Walter put it: where better to go than back to the Motor City.

1,979 miles on the clock, 670 horsepower behind the seats, and a fall show season ahead of it.

The plate frame reads DAD'S DREAM. 🏎️

Frank LaVacca's 1990 convertible is finished in Turquoise Metallic — GM code 42 — a color Chevrolet offered on the Corvette for two model years before retiring it. 589 cars left Bowling Green in that shade for 1990, roughly two and a half percent of the year.

Black top, black interior (the only combinations Chevrolet allowed with this paint), chrome five-spoke wheels, and a luggage rack on the rear deck — a $140 factory option that only 1,284 convertible buyers ticked that year. TUNED PORT INJECTION down the flank, 5.7-liter L98 under the clamshell hood, 245 horsepower.

Look closely at the tail. 1990 was the last year a standard Corvette came with the concave rear end and four round taillights — the ZR-1's wider convex tail with square lights took over the whole line for 1991.

Meet "The Polar Bear."

Gary Archdeacon of Brecksville, Ohio sent us his 2019 Corvette Grand Sport — Arctic White over Adrenaline Red, one of 1,785 Arctic White Grand Sport coupes built in the C7's final model year. It's supercharged and dyno-tuned to 675 horsepower at the crank, riding on powder-coated Racing Red wheels, with a carbon fiber splitter, side skirts and dash trim, a custom rear wing, rear window louvers, and red LED lighting running through the engine bay and interior. There's a stuffed polar bear in the driver's seat at every show, and a shelf full of First Place trophies to go with it — plus two top-fifty finishes at Carlisle.

What got us, though, is the history. This is Gary's third Corvette. The first was a 1961 convertible in white with contrasting silver coves. The second was a 1963 in black over red — and 1963 is the year Zora Arkus-Duntov quietly built five Corvette Grand Sports before GM's leadership killed the program. He planned 125. He got five. They're still among the most valuable Corvettes on earth.

Five years old. 1975. A black Stingray on chrome five-spokes goes past, and that's it — decision made. 🏎️

It took Eric fifty-one years to get there. Three very active daughters and out-of-state tuition will do that to a timeline. But the car he ended the wait with was worth it: a 2005 C6 coupe in Daytona Sunset Orange, one of just 2,379 coupes built in the color that year, now running a supercharger and an aftermarket exhaust.

Here's the part we love. Orange vanished from the Corvette order sheet after 1977 and stayed gone for 28 years. It came back in 2005 — the exact year of Eric's car — and lasted two model years before Atomic Orange took over.

He's had it about a month. He says he'll never stop smiling. We believe him.

Rick bought this Corvette in 1973. He still owns it — fifty-three years later.

It's a 1969 Stingray T-top coupe, four-speed, in Fathom Green, and it left the factory with two options that make it stand out anywhere: the side-mount exhaust with those finned chrome covers under the doors, and the fiber-optic light monitoring system that let the driver watch every exterior bulb from the centre console.

The L46 350/350 is still in there — the same block, bored and stroked to 383 and now running fuel injection, all done during a recent frame-off restoration. The brief was to modernise the systems and leave the original look alone. He even kept the parts he took off: side exhaust covers, air pump, valve covers, all boxed up.

Why go that far on a car you've owned since 1973? In his words: "Tired of all the 55-plus-year part failures — I want to drive the car."

A little context on the year: 1969 is when the name came back as a single word, Stingray, above the front-fender louvers. Side exhaust went on 4,355 of the 38,762 Corvettes built that year — about one in nine.
