Water Bodies
An exhibition of new works by Imran Qureshi (@imranqureshiartist) is on view at Corvi-Mora (@corvimora), London — until 25 July 2026.

Qureshi’s eighth show at the gallery centers on a group of PVC water tanks decorated with Multani Kashkari tilework — a craft tradition with roots in 12th-century Persian and Islamic architecture, executed here by Muhammad Shahzaib, a seventh-generation artisan from one of Multan’s oldest Kashkari families.

Ubiquitous across Pakistan, these deep-blue tanks are functional necessities, storing water against intermittent supply. Covered in the same intricate patterns found on shrines and mosques, they become something else: objects suspended between utility and ornament, survival and tradition. New miniature paintings on wasli paper accompany the tanks, extending Qureshi’s dialogue between the Mughal miniature tradition and the conditions of contemporary life.
