I'M OVER THE MOON TO FINALLY ANNOUNCE THAT I'M GOING TO BE A PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!🙂‍↕️✨🥳

My debut novel THE ACADEMY OF MACABRE ARTS, a dark academia political fantasy is going to be published by Alcove in spring 2027!!

This has been a long time coming and I'm beyond excited to finally get my stories into readers' hands. This journey has been rocky, to say the least, but sometimes good things need a little time to find their way to you: per aspera ad astra!

I'm endlessly grateful for my incredible agent @beccapodos who saw something in my ideas during DVpit 2023. When they reached out back then, I couldn't believe it (sometimes still can't). It makes such a difference who you have in your corner in this industry and I couldn't ask for a better advocate than Becca❤️‍🔥. You're truly the best! Thanks for believing in me!! Loooook what we did!! TAOMA is going to be a real book!! Yayy!!

The same goes for Elana, who I'm so excited to work with. So far it's been a blast and I'm so so thrilled we found an editor who understands this story so deeply and is as much a fan of my chaos children and THE ACADEMY OF MACABRE ARTS' political mystery as I am myself.

I can't wait to see where this journey leads. THE ACADEMY OF MACABRE ARTS is my favorite thing I've ever written and probably the most ambitious project I've tackled so far. That TAOMA is going to be my debut, feels like a special reward!

It's only going to be a few months until I can share this twisted dark tale with you, but there will be more news and fun stuff to look forward to in the meantime!!✨

(character art by the incredible: @sandpontiff who perfectly captured my Fool—one of the most important characters in TAOMA. Can't wait for y'all to meet him) by @corvinscorner

welcome to Mortheim!!🏰🎭✨ I hope you packed some warm clothes because the northern winter is eternal and the academy's ancient halls mercilessly freezing.
While you're here, watch out for ruthless professors, restless ghosts and the emperor's Fool wandering the corridors, reporting right back to his master. Watching, always watching!
I hope you enjoy your stay.

What is the book about? Here's the synopsis:

BLOOD OVER BRIGHT HAVEN x WILL OF THE MANY

Mortheim, the snowy capital of a ruthless empire, has outlawed Witchlings and their magic since the assassination of their former ruling family and the short war that followed. The only safe way to practice is to enroll at Mortheim’s Academy of Macabre Arts. Those who graduate—or rather, survive until graduation—can live in comfort and practice their craft under the watchful eye of the empire.

Rune Dentaré arrives at the Academy terrified of the massive black fortress on the hill, and anxious about exposing the unusual extent of his powers to the people that organized the Witchling burnings. But with no money and no legal way to practice magic otherwise, it’s his last resort.

Beatrice Baseem has loathed the empire ever since her father was burned by Emperor Morkova for the magic in his veins. Still, the Academy is the only way to break her unwanted engagement and provide for her family.

This year, however, the top student will be awarded the title of Cairdruídhàn—the emperor’s court magician. The trials leading up to graduation are deadly, but as Beatrice and Rune race to the top of their class, they stumble upon an even greater threat—secrets that could topple the empire or end witchkind itself.
