As an entrepreneur—especially in the real estate world—boundaries can be one of the hardest things to set and keep.

There are seasons in life where you’re being called to different areas with different intensity. And that’s where I’ve learned there’s a big difference between balance and harmony.

Balance implies equal weight everywhere. But harmony? Harmony is about listening. It’s about knowing when to pour more energy into one area without guilt—because that’s where the fire needs tending.

Sometimes that means saying no. Sometimes it means doubling down. But the goal isn’t perfection—it’s peace.

Here’s to building lives and businesses that feel good, not just look good.

The last time I attended eXpCon, I was running everywhere… recording everything, trying to attend every session, meet everyone, and absorb it all.

This time? Completely different.

God has been doing some serious work in me over the last couple of years.

And this week, I got to experience the fruit of that work.

I showed up intentional. Grounded. Present.

Instead of trying to be everywhere, I focused on being fully present wherever I was.
And man… the relationships, conversations, and connections that came from that were something special.

I spent two days with an incredible group of people at Austin Cheviron’s mastermind.

I came home realizing that the greatest transformation wasn’t what I learned.

It was who I’ve become.
And I’m still becoming. by @cory_the_guide

Real question… if nobody clapped, would you still do the thing you say you’re called to do?

I’ve been chewing on that one.

In Jeremiah 20, the prophet Jeremiah gets beaten and put in the stocks by Pashhur, one of the officials at the temple, for doing exactly what God had called him to do—telling the truth people didn’t want to hear.

And Jeremiah hits a wall.

He’s mocked. He’s exhausted. He basically gets to the point of saying, I’m done. I’m not doing this anymore.

But he can’t.

He says God’s word is like “a fire shut up in my bones.” He’s tired of holding it in. In fact, he says he can’t hold it in.

Man, that’ll make you think.

Because I think we throw the word “calling” around pretty easily when things are going well.

Business is booming. People are noticing. Everybody’s clapping.

But what happens when they aren’t?

Is it still worth doing when nobody claps?

For me, I keep coming back to being a guide. A resource. Somebody in your corner who will tell you the truth and help you make the next right decision.

And that’s bigger than whether you have a house to buy or sell today.

Remodel question and you want to protect your ROI? Call me.

Need a contractor who won’t ghost you halfway through the job? Call me.

Curious what your house might be worth—or whether doing anything with it even makes sense? Call me.

You don’t need to have a transaction for me to be valuable to you.

I’d rather be a resource for life than a salesman for a season.

Still guiding clients all the way home… since 2015. by @cory_the_guide

For a long time, I thought success was pretty easy to measure.

Produce more. Results.
Achieve more. Results.
Build more. Results.
Keep moving. Results.

But eventually you have to ask a harder question:
What am I actually building all of this for?

My friend and coach Austin Cheviron invited me onto the Winning Twice Podcast, and we had a conversation that went well beyond business.

We talked about faith. Rest. Marriage. Success. The seasons of life. And what it looks like to stop chasing achievement for achievement’s sake and start building a life that is actually aligned with what matters most.

One thing I shared usually surprises people:
I rest a day each week and a week each month.
I operate on Run & Rest cycles.
Not because I don’t care about achievement.
Because I’ve learned that rest isn’t the enemy of achievement.

Sometimes it’s what makes sustainable achievement possible.

I don’t want business success if it costs me everything I was supposedly working for in the first place.

I will win in business AND I will win at home.
And most importantly, I want to make sure I’m becoming the man God is calling me to be along the way.

That’s why this episode is called:
Alignment with my creator Over Achievement.

This was a meaningful conversation for me. Give it a listen. Share your thoughts.

🚨 Pressure can feel a lot like purpose.

That's what makes it dangerous.

High performers are especially vulnerable to this.

Because pressure feels important.

It feels urgent.

It feels like something meaningful is happening.

But over the last few years I've learned a difficult lesson:

Pressure is a terrible compass.

I've stayed in situations longer than I should have.

I've tolerated things I shouldn't have tolerated.

I've confused being needed with being aligned.

And those are not the same thing.

One creates burnout.

The other creates peace.

One creates pressure.

The other creates clarity.

Leadership maturity isn't learning how to carry more pressure.

It's learning how to recognize the difference between pressure and purpose.

Comment ALIGN if you're learning to choose alignment over urgency.

Most spiritually dry leaders don't need more motivation.

They need less noise.

That realization changed a lot for me.

For a long time, I thought spiritual dryness meant I wasn't doing enough.

Praying enough.

Reading enough.

Trying hard enough.

But what I've learned is that sometimes the issue isn't distance from God.

It's overload.

Too much input.

Too much pressure.

Too much urgency.

And not enough stillness.

One of the biggest shifts in my life has been learning to create margin.

More prayer.

More reflection.

More quiet.

Because I've found that God often speaks the clearest when everything else gets quieter.

Comment ALIGN if you're learning to make room for stillness.

Your spouse usually knows you're out of alignment before your business does.

That was a hard lesson for me.

For years I thought leadership was measured by results.

Revenue.
Momentum.
Growth.

But what I've learned is that the people closest to us feel the cost of our misalignment long before anyone else.

They feel our stress.

They feel our absence.

They feel our pressure.

One of the biggest shifts in my life wasn't learning how to grow a business.

It was learning how to become more present.

More peaceful.

More aligned.

And the first place I saw the impact wasn't in my business.

It was in my marriage.

Real leadership doesn't just produce results.

It produces fruit at home.

Comment ALIGN if you're working on becoming the same leader at home that you are in business.

Just because an opportunity is good doesn't mean it's God.

That lesson took me years to learn.

As ambitious people, we're wired to move.

We're wired to build.

We're wired to say yes.

And sometimes opportunity feels so exciting that we never stop to ask a deeper question:

Am I supposed to do this?

Over the last few years, I've realized that some of the biggest breakthroughs in my life didn't come from saying yes to more things.

They came from saying no to the wrong things.

Because some open doors create purpose.

Others create distraction.

And leadership maturity isn't just about becoming more capable.

It's about becoming more discerning.

Comment ALIGN if you're learning to choose alignment over opportunity.

Being needed by everyone can become one of the biggest distractions in leadership.

I know because I've lived it.

For years I thought being available was part of being a good leader.

Answer the call.

Solve the problem.

Jump into the situation.

Help everyone.

And while there's value in serving people...

there's a hidden cost too.

If everyone has access to you, eventually nothing gets your full attention.

Your work suffers.

Your relationships suffer.

Your peace suffers.

One of the biggest leadership lessons I've learned is this:

Your value isn't found in being available everywhere.

It's found in being fully present where you are.

Because presence is where trust is built.

Presence is where leadership happens.

Comment ALIGN if you're working on becoming more present.

🚨 Your team feels your pressure before they hear your words.

That realization changed how I think about leadership.

For years, I thought leadership was mostly about communication.

What you say.

How you say it.

The right strategy.

The right message.

But I've learned something deeper.

People feel what you're carrying.

Clients feel it.

Your team feels it.

Your family feels it.

Pressure is contagious.

But so is calm.

One of the biggest goals in my own leadership journey has been learning to bring more steadiness into every room I enter.

Because leadership isn't just about what comes out of your mouth.

It's about what shows up with you.

Comment ALIGN if you're working on leading with more peace and less pressure.

What if the slowdown you're fighting is actually protecting you?

That question changed everything for me.

For years I thought speed meant momentum.

I thought urgency meant responsibility.

I thought the answer was always more effort.

More hustle.
More pressure.
More acceleration.

Then God started teaching me something different.

Sometimes He slows us down because the pace we're running at is damaging the very things that matter most.

Our health.
Our marriage.
Our peace.
Our clarity.

Looking back, some of the most important rebuilding seasons of my life happened after God interrupted my pace.

Not to punish me.

To protect me.

Some things can only be rebuilt at a slower pace.

Comment ALIGN if you're learning to trust God's timing instead of your own.

The fastest way to destroy your leadership is to convince yourself that rest is optional.

I know because I've done it.

I've tried to outwork exhaustion.

I've tried to outwork pressure.

I've tried to outwork burnout.

And eventually I learned something:

Rest isn't where momentum dies.

It's where clarity is built.

It's where patience grows.

It's where emotional control develops.

When leaders remove rest from their lives, everything starts getting expensive.

Small problems feel overwhelming.

Relationships feel heavier.

Decisions feel rushed.

And before long, leadership becomes reactive.

One of the biggest lessons God has been teaching me is that rest isn't a reward for leadership.

It's a requirement for healthy leadership.

Comment ALIGN if you're learning to lead from a healthier rhythm.
