Here’s some clips from Borrowed cs rehearsals — dubby hitek machine funk on these boxes. I got my first live BCS gig in a while and of course I’ve made a whole new set on different instruments… d’oh.. but anyway I’m always keen on live sets hmu!

The Roland is new to me and it’s actually decent. I’ll be bringing it with me for the Freddy’s show now so I gotta school up and get used to performing with it. Not to worry, it’s got lots of sweet spots and obviously those sounds are so good, digital ACB whatever…

I’ll be bringing this set out for @inthemoment_radio next Friday at The Evelyn. They’re bringing in the @tribe_soundsystem so it’s gonna be M by @corychampion

By “locking” the osc am and fm voltages the hypnotron in tune I can use one of the amt controls to sweep in and around (sub)harmonic tones. It’s extremely satisfying to hear and feel the pitches lock in tune on the amt, especially with the independent pitch of the h3000 resonator algorithm. Thinking about cybernetic systems and Gunnar Haslams serge in this little box.

Kyle Hall & Cory Champion Unite for New Collaborative 12" on @wildoatsmusicdetroit

Detroit producer and DJ Kyle Hall joins forces with New Zealand drummer, producer, and current Fat Freddy's Drop drummer Cory Champion for a new collaborative 12-inch on Wild Oats Music, featuring the tracks "Acuna De Mar" and "Steppin'".

Hall and Champion first met in Auckland in 2016 while Kyle was touring Australia and New Zealand. They stayed in touch over the years, with Champion regularly sharing music from his Borrowed CS and Clear Path Ensemble projects—records that Hall quickly became a fan of and frequently included in his DJ sets.

When Hall returned to Australia last November, Champion had relocated to Melbourne. The two seized the opportunity to spend time together in the studio at Dune Castle, where their shared musical language naturally evolved into these two recordings.

Rooted in a mutual appreciation for jazz, deep house tradition, rich chord voicings, and rhythmic syncopation, "Acuna De Mar" and "Steppin'" capture the organic chemistry between two artists whose paths have crossed over nearly a decade. The result is a warm, groove-driven release that reflects both Hall's Detroit sensibility and Champion's distinctive rhythmic approach.
