just wrapped on a short film filmed right here in Lafayette, Louisiana! i had the best time meeting new people, reconnecting with old friends and learning something new every day.

Proud. Grateful. Blessed.

Last week we officially wrapped on The Wedding Funeral! It’s been an amazing journey to put this film together. I’m so so excited to bring this piece into post production. The talent that was in front and behind of the camera is going to make this a very special film. It takes a village to make anything. I’m incredibly fortunate to have had all of these people in mine. Thank you to all you for helping me to tell this story!

Shooting June 9-12th, and looking for collaborators.

Over the past few months, The Wedding Funeral has slowly started becoming real. We already have an incredible foundation of people who believe in this story, including our producers, production designer, lead cast, and cinematographer.

Now, we’re looking to continue building the team.

This is a call for anyone interested in character-driven indie dramas. I would love to share our script with anyone interested.

I feel bad because I’m hardly in a position to offer my community much financially right now. I always wish I could. But what I can offer is the opportunity to help create something meaningful. Something honest. Something we can all point to with pride and say, “We made that here.”

Louisiana is overflowing with talented artists, crew members, actors, musicians, and creatives. I want all my films to reflect that.

If you’re someone who wants to help tell emotionally grounded stories and collaborate with passionate people who care deeply about cinema, I’d love to hear from you.

Another year around the sun. Another chance to recognize my incredible blessings.

Got married to an incredible woman.
Went to Europe for the first time.
Went to the Caribbean for the first time.
Got my masters.
Brought an unofficial mascot to life.
Connected with more talented filmmakers.
Had amazing food with amazing friends.
Started making more films.
Experienced memories that will last a lifetime.
Oh, and I moved to L.A.

MEET THE FILMMAKER: Cory St. Ewart (@corykinda) is a Louisiana filmmaker who tells stories about identity, heritage, and belonging through the lens of Louisiana’s Black and Francophone communities. He is a 2024 Alfred P. Sloan Screenwriting Grant recipient at Columbia University, a 2024 CreateLouisiana French Culture Grant recipient, and a 2022 New Orleans Film Society Emerging Voices Fellow. And his short documentary Musique(s) has been preserved in the U.S. Library of Congress for its contribution in capturing contemporary Louisiana French music.

Exactly one year ago, I started a fundraiser to bring my unofficial mascot for the University of Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, Albineaux “Al” Boudreaux, to life. For three years I campaigned and developed this character due to the retiring of the school’s previous mascot, Cayenne, back in 2014–leaving our students and fanbase without any spirit leader. Attendance at games dropped, along with enthusiasm for the Ragin Cajuns. That’s something I could not stand idly by and watch.

Two days after I started my fundraiser, people who didn’t live and love the Acadiana culture like I do, used my Alma mater against me. They smeared my name in the media, and used their lawyers to shut down my fundraiser. They didn’t like that I was a super fan, and didn’t blindly give them money instead.

Through incredible support and perseverance, Albineaux still found a way to come life in Lafayette, LA. One year later, Al has been embraced by fans across multiple states, fanbases, and backgrounds. The smiles and hugs from kids, teens, and adults are countless. I could have never imagined how heart warming and fulfilling this project would be.

Thank you to everyone who believed we could get here even when things were so dark. No dream is ever too big, especially for Ragin Cajuns. Looking forward to seeing Al make more memories in 2026 🤟 by @corykinda

The absolute best gift in our lives is the people in it. The love we felt on our wedding day was truly overwhelming, and our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who has supported us along the way.
