Join us this Friday to protest the CSPD medal of Valor dinner! The ultra-rich elites fund our oppression and will rehabilitate the image of a repressive police department to maintain their power. We gotta fight back against police brutality, unmask these ultra-rich firms, and demand community control of the police! taken in Colorado Springs, Colorado by @cosaarpr

On July 5th 2025, Alex Martinez-Sarmiento was murdered by CSPD officer Connor Jacob Wallick, an officer with a history of racial profiling and discrimination towards Chicanos.

Wallick approached Alex with his gun drawn and pointed sideways in which Alex responded by putting his hands up, showing they were empty, before running away.

Wallick proceeded to shoot Alex in the back several times. The aftermath caught on a facebook livestream showed an angry crowd yelling at CSPD officers who surrouned and handcuffed Alex as he bled out on the ground.

CSPD and the district attorney’s office have done non-stop propaganda trying to paint Alex as a dangerous criminal (sound familiar?)

Connor Jacob Wallick is wanted by the people of Colorado Springs for the murder of Alex Martinez-Sarmiento! Only a crooked coward would shoot an empty handed person in the back! We demand justice for Alex Martinez-Sarmiento and that Connor Wallick rots in jail! taken in Colorado Springs, Colorado by @cosaarpr

Colorado Springs, CO – On September 25, the Colorado Springs Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (COSAARPR) gathered outside the Broadmoor Hall to protest the annual Medal of Valor dinner hosted by the Colorado Springs Police Foundation.

They were joined by the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), as well as the family of Alex Martinez-Sarmiento, who was killed by Officer Connor Wallick of the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) last July.

This annual fundraising dinner claims to honor CSPD officers who have gone “above and beyond,” yet, each year, the majority of officers winning awards are killer cops. This year, 19 out of the 25 officers awarded were involved in fatal shootings within the last few years. Two of the Medal of Valor recipients have killed multiple people. Michael Dauchy was involved in killing Dean Ackerman in December 2024 and Benji Greenfield in April 2026; Nicholas Cassalisa was involved in three fatal shootings in 2024, those being Dean Ackerman, Tyler Jacob Ben and Michael Hurst.

The event has tickets ranging from $175 to $10,000-plus for seating at a table with a deputy chief or commander.

JUSTICE FOR NOLAN WELLS!

The National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression strongly condemns the grand jury decision not to proceed to trial with the case of Nolan Wells. As an organization centered around uplifting the pain and struggle of people around the country fighting against racist policing, right wing violence, and political repression, we extend our heartfelt solidarity to Nolan’s parents and community. At a time when Black people are once again being targeted by racist violence across the country, we join the Wells family in demanding transparency and justice.

It took about an hour for an all white jury in Mississippi to find Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam, Emmett Till’s murderers, not guilty. Despite a wealth of evidence linking the killing of Till to them and Carolyn Bryant, Roy Bryant’s wife, the jurors ignored or were not given crucial evidence. The white racists and corrupt judicial system in support of his killing united to keep the real details of the case silent. The Bryants went on to live the rest of their lives while Emmett Till’s family got nothing except mourning.

Although it’s been 71 years since Till’s killing, the racism at the core of Mississippi’s legal system hasn’t changed much. The case of Nolan Wells leaves many unanswered questions. Why would Nolan allow his friends to leave him on an island alone without his phone and keys? Why did the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the office of District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath deem Well’s death a drowning despite the blunt force trauma he suffered? Why won’t these offices release the autopsy report to press outlets?...
