What Can Three-Quarters of a Penny Accomplish? City of South Fulton Conitnues to take T-SPLOST Progress on the Road with more stops this week!

The T-SPLOST Roadshow is an eight-stop community engagement series designed to connect residents with the projects, progress, and public investment being powered by the City’s three-quarter-cent Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. 

Across the local area, it is helping finance roads, sidewalks, bridges, resurfacing, pedestrian improvements, traffic signals, and safer intersections.

Representatives on Site: Mayor Carmalitha Gumbs and a City of South Fulton Public Works representative

The Fairburn Road bridge work has been postponed to Monday, Oct. 5 to provide the community additional time to prepare. Through traffic will be detoured, but local access to homes and businesses will be maintained.

Temporary traffic changes are coming to Fairburn Road as the City moves forward with major improvements designed to make travel safer and more efficient for residents, businesses and visitors.

Beginning Oct. 5, 2026 at 8 a.m., Fairburn Road will be temporarily closed at the North and South Utoy Creek crossings as part of the ongoing Fairburn Road Improvement Project.

The temporary closure is necessary as construction crews begin building two new bridges at the North and South Utoy Creek crossings. Construction work will also be taking place over the weekends.

I-285 FULL CLOSURE OCT. 2–5

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will fully close I-285 in both directions in southwest Fulton County from 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, weather and conditions permitting.

Closure:
🔹Northbound: Cascade Road (Exit 7) to SR 166/Langford Parkway (Exit 5)
🔹Southbound: SR 166/Langford Parkway (Exit 5) to Cascade Road (Exit 7)

Drivers should expect significant travel delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

The closure is part of GDOT’s I-285 Westside Rebuild project, which includes concrete roadway reconstruction. Crews will mill and grind the roadway in preparation for concrete slab repairs and replacements.

Another full closure is scheduled for Oct. 23–26. GDOT will provide additional details on closure times, limits and detours closer to the date.

What Can Three-Quarters of a Penny Accomplish? City of South Fulton Takes T-SPLOST Progress on the Road, STARTING TOMORROW.

The first meeting will be held in District 1, at Sandtown Park, with Councilwoman Dr. Catherine F. Rowell.

Beginning Sept. 29, the City will launch its inaugural T-SPLOST Roadshow, an eight-stop community engagement series designed to connect residents with the projects, progress, and public investment being powered by the City’s three-quarter-cent Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. 

Across the local area, it is helping finance roads, sidewalks, bridges, resurfacing, pedestrian improvements, traffic signals, and safer intersections. The FY27 plan identifies $55 million in T-SPLOST transportation projects intended to improve mobility, safety, and economic growth.
