Hellloooo, it’s been a while! 👋🏻 Still here though and still trying to finish the million jobs on the cottage in between running the shop and battling what can only be described as a MAJOR lack of motivation and direction for most of this year to date. We recently had a little mini break to Scotland though and it’s refreshed me enough to get on with some ‘stuff’, mainly because I’m determined to get this place finished and find that cottage on a loch again! 😆 One day I will retire and just paddle board, drink coffee and watch my loch all day (a girl can dream!).

For now, I will admire this old runner that I bought as shop stock and then promptly stole for my own floor. 😂

Happy Friday! 🍺 by @cottage.on.the.corner

Ad/We’ve had mini bedroom makeover! Swapping out our tired bed and mattress for this beautiful brass @cornishbedco bed and @naturalmatuk mattress and topper. Bedtime has never felt so luxurious and I still have to pinch myself every time I climb into it, it’s an absolute dream!!

The Bed- A huge bonus was that once we had chosen the bed frame (The Elizabeth), I asked for the head and foot end to be altered to a custom height in order to fit with our sloping ceilings, which they did without problem. @cornishbedco beds are made on site in Cornwall, handmade to each customer order using traditional Victorian casting techniques- this makes things a lot more customisable and the attention to detail is honestly just outstanding.

The Mattress - I went for the incredible Sumptuous mattress from @naturalmatuk with the zip link, as this makes it MUCH easier to move around. Topped off with the Frome wool topper which just makes it extra cosy. I also took full advantage of the 45 day sleep promise, as I had originally chosen the firm but discovered this was actually a bit too firm for me. The other half was quite happy with the firm though, so we just swapped out one side of the zip link mattress for a medium and now we have the perfect sleep set up. The other benefit to a zip link!

I genuinely couldn’t recommend these businesses more, every step has been a total pleasure. 😊 by @cottage.on.the.corner

Well, that’s almost that then! Farewell 2025… You’ve been a bit like being awake during a lengthy surgery. A year of immense loss, quite a few tears and a rather large serving of self reflection and growth. Starting 2026 feeling a bit bruised, a little sad about some of the last year, quite tired, and with FAR less tolerance for some things. But, wiser, stronger and more determined to find as much fun and general chaos in the next twelve months as possible. Most importantly, my sense of humour is slowly returning (this could be deemed as a positive, or not… depending on who you ask). 😆

Signing off with some festive photos, feeling like I’m 50% Bucks Fizz, 10% Panetone, 30% Roast Dinners and 10% Baileys.

Happy New Year to you all and thanks for sticking around, even though I’ve hardly shown up here all year!❤️

Things you don’t want to be doing in 32 degree heat… painting a bedroom and trying to shoot content for a stove! So glad I left it until the hottest day of the year, I’ve probably lost about half a stone in sweat so far. Absolutely cannot wait to have to light the stove!!

Definitely buying an air con unit this year, the bedroom got up to 30 degrees last year, at bed times. No good sleep was had and my mood matched the sleep most days 😆 Can anyone recommend a good one, quiet and around 15-18000 BTU please?

Finally! Some snow, albeit considerably less than half an hour down the road. FYI - If you hate snow and want to avoid it, move to Suffolk. It hardly ever snows here!!

And yes… the tree (giant houseplant - see last post) is very much still up. 🎄

On a separate note, does anyone know what you’re supposed to do today? I think I’ve forgotten how to function and the 06:30 alarm has not been a welcome start to the day. It’s a time of day that I’ve not seen for a while! 😵‍💫 I think ‘Discombobulated’ is going to be my word of the day (or week)!! by @cottage.on.the.corner

There’s two types of people at the start of Jan isn’t there, the ‘pack it away’ team or the ‘drag it out for as long as possible’ team… I’m the latter. I think the tree was up up until February the year before last 🤣 I did remove the decs though, so it was basically a large houseplant with lights?!!

Aside from chucking some sad looking table greenery in the compost today, everything else is still out. The fairy lights are still lighting up the front of the cottage like Blackpool illuminations, and I definitely still had baileys in my coffee today 😬

January always feels so drab, I feel like Christmas should be strung out for as long as possible, or until it starts to become mildly embarrassing and has people thinking you’re actually just too lazy to tidy it away. by @cottage.on.the.corner

I’ve finally decorated the tree, but am so bow’ed out from making everyone else’s bow orders this year that I don’t have the enthusiasm to make my own. So, this years tree topper is a vintage goose in a bow (let’s call this creative, rather than lazy shall we).

Other than the tree, I’ve bought zero presents yet, zero food and the only other decorations are copious amounts of streamers strung across ceilings. No mantle garland yet, the tree in the bedroom isn’t decorated and I’m as disorganised as always (despite claiming each year that ‘next year I’m going to be sooooo much more organised’ - hilarious).

Also, what’s with this December lurgy?! I’ve had it for almost three weeks now and it keeps tricking me, lulling me into thinking it gone and then it suddenly re appears!

So, other than that… feeling pretty festive. 🤧🎄 by @cottage.on.the.corner

I made these bows as a recent custom order and like them so much, that I now need to find the time to make myself some before Christmas. Which is optimistic, being as I only got the tree today and don’t know when I’ll find the time to actually put anything on it! 😵‍💫 Every year I think ‘this will be the year I’m organised for Christmas’, conveniently forgetting it’s my busiest time of the year for the business!

Another year that I won’t be making any of the crafting projects, that I have 3838484 screen shots of 😆 by @cottage.on.the.corner

The Cottage in print - It’s such a joy to see all the hard work over the last 9 years, gracing the pages of an actual book.

One day soon, I’ll be saying goodbye to this old place and passing her care to someone new. Having these memories to take away is really quite lovely.

May this summer drag on for as long as possible please! Having the doors thrown open all day makes my heart happy, as does being able to create aesthetically pleasing little corners outside. This one now made all the prettier with Evie & Skye’s Mistral Drape Ruffle tablecloth and napkins in Natural Linen.

*If you love them as much as I do, you can use the code COTTAGEBREEZE10 for a very generous 20% off of any Mistral Drape Tablecloth. Each customer who uses the code will also entered into a draw to win a set of 4 matching ruffled napkins!

P.s. If anyone sees more of these cabbage plates in @tkmaxxuk and fancies picking some up and posting to me, please let me know! They only had two of each left and I’d love some more. 🫶🏼 by @cottage.on.the.corner

A very special day was had yesterday at a Gentle Doll Making Workshop with Sara of @wildwoodmaker and Helen of @albion_nights

Workshops ‘just for fun’ are one of those things I never think to do, as they feel too indulgent. Yesterday was a reminder to say yes to more things that are good for the soul though!

Sara guided us through making our own dolls and the results were surprisingly impressive, despite the complete lack of concentration from me due to too much talking and laughing! 😂 #ADHD

I honestly can’t recommend this enough, if you have the chance to do a workshop with Sara @wildwoodmaker or visit @albion_nights then grab it! Helen also has two of the most beautiful cabins that you can stay in, nestled in the beautiful meadow above. It really is the most magical space 💫

On a side note, if you ever see mine and @firedrosejewellery names appear on a list for one of your workshops, you might not want to sit us next to each other! Utter chaos 🤣

All in all, a bloomin beautiful day with beautiful humans ❤️ by @cottage.on.the.corner

The BEST long weekend camping at @redroosterfestivals Absolutely awesome people, great music and perfect weather. The post RR blues are strong today, as is the tiredness 😂🍻 by @cottage.on.the.corner
