✨Portrait d’une femme d’influence en sport: @couellet07 !✨

Première Québécoise à participer aux Jeux paralympiques d’hiver et d’été, Cindy Ouellet cumule cinq participations en basketball en fauteuil roulant et une en ski paranordique.

Athlète engagée depuis 22 ans, et ayant croisé sur sa route des modèles inspirants
comme Chantal Petitclerc et Dean Bergeron, Cindy a découvert à l’âge de 15 ans, grâce à une physiothérapeute, le basketball en fauteuil roulant. Depuis plus de 10 ans, elle en est d’ailleurs la capitaine de l’équipe canadienne. Après une maîtrise en physiologie
de l’exercice à l’Université d’Alabama, une maîtrise-doctorat en ingénierie biomédicale à l’Université Southern California, elle est présentement doctorante en neuroscience à l’Université Laval, tout en continuant de s’entraîner en vue des Jeux de 2028 à Los
Angeles.

With an awe-inspiring total of 7 medals from the World Championships and the Parapan American Games, Cindy is a true symbol of strength, resilience, and determination. Diagnosed with bone cancer at just 12 years old, Cindy had her own wish granted by Make-A-Wish Canada. Now, she’s coming full circle to help bring hope, joy, and life-changing moments to children and families in need. 💙🎖️

Athlète. Ambassadrice. Bénévole. Modèle. Chercheuse. Cindy Ouellet porte beaucoup de chapeaux. Mais dans tous ses rôles, le sport a toujours été une force motrice. Il l’a menée sur plusieurs chemins, dont un la ramène au bercail : aux Jeux du Canada.

Six fois paralympienne, Cindy est une ancienne des Jeux du Canada en athlétisme et en basketball en fauteuil roulant, membre du conseil d’administration des Jeux du Canada de Québec 2027, et défenseure de la communauté 2SLGBTQIA+ et de la lutte contre l’intimidation.

@defisportif (Altergo) matters to me because of the amazing work they do for athletes living with a difference like me. I have known the organization and the people who work there for many years, and I can tell you that they put their heart and soul into making the lives of those like me better. I’m grateful to support AlterGo and help them focus on what matters most to them.

I participated at Défi sportif since age 15 in swimming, track, para hockey and wheelchair basketball and it had a tremendous impact in my life.
