Chapter 31 💕

Another year of love, light, lessons and laughter.
Happy to be here. Happy to hold so many stories. Happy to share what’s inside of me with all of you out there.

I had the absolute best birthday weekend I could have asked for. Filled with museums, libraries, friends and family.

Thank you everyone. by @courtsnextchapter

⭐️ To take my recs or not take my recs? ⭐️

I mean truly, I vote read whatever you want and get your recs from whoever you want! I’m really just so thankful for this space and the actual connections I’ve made in the time I’ve been here.

I’ve said this before but I only made this account so that I could find a community. As a SAHM living in a new place, it means everything to me that there’s a space like this to come to each day.

All of this to really say, I don’t just post to get likes or follows. I post because I want to inspire you to read good books, I want you help me find good books but I also want to talk to you, your mother, your brother and everyone else about said books.

Let’s keep doing that 🥲

Shoutout to my feral IRL book club and friends for always cursing me out over books. You give me the best content (if I ever get a check, I’ll have to cut it with you) but you also give me life 🫶🏼

And thank you to everyone I featured on the last side! I’m missing so much but it’s just a little snippet of my favorite parts of coming on here and making books an entire personality 💗

15 books I’ve read in 2026 living rent free in my head 💗

Not to be confused with my favorites on the year, although some of these are in that list too. These are books that left me with something my brain simply can’t stop going over.

Some books are gorgeous start to finish and tie up so perfectly that I’m able to lay them down in my brain’s attic and reminisce when I feel like it, but some books are more complex, more shocking, more questionable, more life-changing and those books are the ones that won’t stay in the attic peacefully with the others. They’re the ones that keep creeping down in my brain’s living space and start playing highlight reels at any giving time.

This is a list of those books so far this year. (I could have made this list 25 books but I’ll save it for a part 2)

Book Spotlight for The Margins to the Middle Book Club ⭐️

Another Name for Red by Amber Blaeser-Wardzala
Pub date: 10.13.26

This book is a perfect example of the fact that fiction has the ability to be a primary source for education.

The amount I was able to learn and takeaway from this story is what makes it so special to me. Getting to go through this book with main character “Middle Sister” offered me more than just her story and perspective, it gave me a deeper more emotional look into current Indigenous cultures here in the US and I have great appreciation for that.

This book captured me from page one. The writing was so easy to grab onto, the characters were so lifelike and familiar, and the mystery plot immediately had my wheels turning. The thrilling aspects of the book really shined through. My skin was crawling at some of these parts and honestly many the characters, my heart racing over the close calls and what ifs. My favorite parts however are the ones that depicted the way grief can claw and tear at individuals, families and communities alike. There was a lot of nuance and gray areas explored in this book and I think it was expertly done.

Another great pick for the book tour! Make sure you take action is supporting marginalized authors.

Add this to the TBR, preorder or request at your library, and follow along the book tour! Next up is: @spicyseoulreads 💗 by @courtsnextchapter

Goodreads finally made an update to their archaic site! And as a half star user myself, I’m as excited as the next person. BUT let’s not forget our agency in creating change.

This community, more than many others, has realized the need for change in how Goodreads impacts the reading world. And yes, we could just not use Goodreads (I know those comments are coming) but until the majority of us aren’t, until the publishing industry detaches itself from it, a change there is necessary and worthwhile. We have the agency, intention and ability to start those changes.

At the end of the day, Goodreads is a reflection of those using it. We need to do better as a reading community so that reflection looks different. Keep sharing information, keep setting the example, keep pushing for better. by @courtsnextchapter

Banned Books Week 2026 💗

They say ban it, I say….. plenty of things that will get me banned instead.

But instead of just talking, let’s get to action. See the resource slide for banned books lists, specific action items, general information and more.

• Build your banned books TBR
• Buy/request banned books at your local bookstores and libraries
• Donate to the organizations fighting back
• Call your senators & vote for better representation

History has never favored those who limit the freedom to read, neither has it favored those who sat back and let it happen. by @courtsnextchapter

September reads wrapped 💗

September, what a month you’ve been. I experienced great grief and also great joy. I floated through this month in a strange, hazy mindset for much of it but I also felt moments of grounding within my books, this community and my amazing friends & family.

I actually have not typed up any full reviews for these books, but I will work on it when I have time. Right now reflecting and putting effort into making my thoughts cohesive for others is quite hard. But I’ll get there!

I’m looking forward to October and continuing to balance the highs and the lows 💗

Daisy coming in and having the absolute nerve to match my new (thrifted) reading chairs is everything to me today ☀️

In reality this is just me showing off a very anticipated read and my latest thrift find (again) as a certified buy-nothing-new-unless-it’s-a-book queen. 👸

I’m so excited to read this reimagining of Great Gatsby’s heroine, Daisy Buchanan. All of the GG reimaginings I’ve read this year have been landing flawlessly with me, I can’t wait to see if I can add this to the love list.

Thank you thank you for this ARC @stmartinspress

5-star Spotlight
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

How We Named the Stars
by Andrés Ordorica @andres_ordorica
5 stunning stars.

This book truly came to me at the right time in my life. Currently going through my own grief made me appreciate even more how this book articulated love and loss in such vivid color. To say I sobbed through the entire last 25% is not an exaggeration.

I’ll have a full review of this up soon (links in my bio) but for now, I just want to dive into just SOME of what I highlighted and annotated while reading this masterpiece.

If you’re feeling up to it, share books you’ve read that depicted grief in a way you appreciated. I’ll be adding them to my TBR 🫶🏻 by @courtsnextchapter

My top 5 reads in each genre I’ve read so far 💗 (sorta kinda)

Going through making this post while my brain fizzled and melted… I realized just how hard it is to categorize some books into specific genres. So with that said, many (probably most) of these books fit into multiple categories/genres/slides.

So I did what worked best for picking a top 5 and tried to categorize books based on what I feel their umbrella genre is. But of course throughout the slides you’ll see some movement and books that could go in multiple places.

Next time I update this I’ll include short stories, poetry and refine the categories a bit more

Updating my five-star reads on the year ⭐️
The lore behind this photo will never die as long asI keep finding those five-star reads.

94 books read in total. 13 books are 5-stars along with 2 poetry collections.

My reviews of all these books are updated at the links in my bio if you love a good full review.

Swipe to the last slide for my most recent five-star add with a mini review. Lucky number 13 ⭐️

All of these reads above blew me away and continue to linger. I can’t wait to see what else gets added to this list for 2026.

This photo has been used for multiple updates now but as always for new followers, context is below:

ICYMI, I went to a new coffee shop a few weeks ago with my husband and we absolutely loved the vibes and the coffee. He offered to take a photo of me and well…. 😂

I posted to my stories that once I saw his arms go over his head for the shot I lost hope. We all had a good laugh (though 62% of you said you saw his vision and in doing so validated him but whatever!)

Do we agree on any of these five-star reads?
Which one are you picking up soon?
